Good find. This was always one of those coveted laser discs... I suppose it still is? It's great shit. Need to watch this again. I remember Robot Carnival being another one.
There is a BD now but yeah this is a perfect LD anime. It's not like people are really getting rid of their LDs. This barely comes up for sale, the guy I bought it off of is someone I talk to on another forum and he was willing to sell it to me since he also has the Mamoru Oshii box set which includes this. This LD is slightly better in a couple ways, which is why I didn't seek out the box set.

RC BD is is $20 on Amazon right now. The US LD is very overpriced still.

Edit

This came in today Image

Not the best figure but more or less appropriately valued these days.

R-Type Dimensions EX Collector's Edition arrived a few days ago:

Artbook, post cards, stickers...plus the two aluminum plate art cards that weren't part of the Collector's Edition but were available separately at the same time.

LOL @ Switch
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Plays just fine, and you can even change button configuration this time around, which I seem to recall wasn't possible when Dimensions was released on Xbox 360. I actually already had the game via eShop purchase, I just double-dipped for the physical release because I'm a sucker for all things R-Type.

Cheers for the feedback, big R-Type fan myself. Looks a nice set to have. 8)

Looking at picking one up soon.

i got my r-type dimensions ex a week or two ago, myself, it's quite nice. strictlylimitedgames is one of the smaller publishers of modern physical editions, but i firmly believe they're also one of the better ones. they also tend to have a good eye for stuff - umihara kawase, r-type, the ninja warriors - all superb.

Not releasing trash is a bold strategy.. Lrg pumps out so much.

I got a hot item coming...ems... Classic anime fans may appreciate it. Pics hopefully this week.

they... definitely still release some trash, they just manage to pick up some great stuff for fans of classic stuff that otherwise would slip through the cracks. their sayonara umihara kawase++ is the global exclusive of that version of the game, for example, and it had a package similarly as good as this r-type dimensions one.

i really wish lrg was a bit more discerning or willing to pick up some more slightly obscure stuff. at this point, they just feel like the easy go-to more than this really cool company enabling something that hadn't been able to be possible, before. they really seem to let a lot of stuff fall through the cracks to shittier publishers because it's easier to get a volume of garbage sold to their now-dedicated fanbase. the recent re-release of incredibly shitty old star wars games with new packaging felt extraordinarily ":/"

Managed to snag a sealed copy of R-Type Dimensions EX Collector's Edition PS 4 for £60 last night on Fleabay. It prolly was more expensive than ordering direct but I missed the boat with that one, so I can't complain too much.

Forgot about Umihara Kawase, thanks for reminding me :).

You other brothers can't deny that when a Neo Geo walks in with an itty bitty waist and big cart in your face you get SPRUNG.

:O I've not even heard of that one! Pls report sometime. :3

Also on the Natsume tip, I... well, I bought The Ninja Warriors Once Again (AZN ver) for Switch earlier this week. Plus Wild Guns Reloaded, again, even though I have the PS4 version (was new and cheap). Not something I'd ordinarily do, but then, these are extraordinary releases. Image

Then I decided to get a PS4 instead, and just get JP TNWAA off the PSN for now. I'm a very decisive guy. Image Decided to go with the machine that has an M2 Garegga port, because I'm away from all my stuff, and it's a logical time to quit dicking about and get clears with something besides Golden Bat.

Image

Can crack open that PS4 WGR now I guess.

They're worth the money. But you can pick up a used Herman Miller Aeron for $3-500.
