I actually got this little baby for almost a month...

The Oculus Quest.

Singlehandedly THE best piece of tech I ever bought. I actually prefer it to my PCVR setup by a large margin:

It was a huge score to get a 1200 . I offered him money he wouldn't take it .
Its been an amazing turn table the last couple of years I have had it.

Yeah it's great and really compact. I got one awhile ago and I've been using it as my main NES ever since.

Now for the nitpicking/hardcore/unreasonnable Sega Saturn collectors, I just received this game today :

Image

The Gundam Side Story series is a very common one, except in their "jewel case" version like this one. The only other occurence I know of Side Story III is the copy of Madroms, pictured on satakore.com.

The fullset-er Kinsuke_JP also mentionned in a past interview that it was the only game he was missing to complete his fullset :
http://www.segacollection.com/specials/kinsukejpiv.htm

All of this makes me pretty happy to own a copy today, and I'm also proud (well actually ashamed) to post a picture of all the Gundam SS jewel case I bought, waiting to finally get SS III. Of course now I'm left crying on the lack of spine with III :

Upgraded my video card, from a terribly outdated GTX 650ti to a slightly less outdated GTX 960. Nothing too high-end, but my budget was tight, and it seemed to be in excellent condition (no dust or oxidation at all). In fact, it looked so good that I might as well use a stock photo.

Took a wee trip down to Oklahoma and picked up all these. Also got an LD-S1 and a Proscan PSLD46 players. Originally they were in Dallas and a friend picked them up for me. Had just been waiting to schedule a weekend that worked. $200 for all the LD stuff. Also got a power conditioner he didn't need for free and got some games off him, Phoenix Wright (the 5 that we got on physical DS carts) all CIB and the recent Atelier trilogy on PS4.

I have this exact same video card. It came along with my Alienware Alpha PC

I'm not much of a PC gamer but most of the games I threw at it all ran well.
Then again most of them ran on consoles well too..

Glad you are enjoying it. I haven't had too much chance to use one yet, but a lot of people here have been working for years on it (I don't work directly on the headsets but work on the Oculus development tools), so it's good to hear that.

Got a lot of making numbers go up in my future. If I can find several hundred hours.

(These aren't all new - I've been plugging away at EO1 for a few months, having been on a DRPG/blobber kick for the past few years, and I've played most of these before via flash carts etc, but it's great to finally have two DS 'sets' I've been after for ages. Not pictured but also recent DS additions are The Dark Spire and the Mega Man Zero Collection.)

I figured I'd use an adapter + PS2 stick for M2's Shot Triggers games, but when I found out that Hori made a stick with an optical lever, I couldn't resist :D

How's the optical lever working out?

Yeah it looks nice and I find the slanted palm rest quite comfy. Thankfully the plastic is matte and not glossy, that's a positive as well.

Unfortunately, what matters most - the optical lever - is a letdown. I grew fond of optical sticks with the Ascii FT stick for the Dreamcast, which I find just perfect to play Ikaruga. I can play just fine with an ordinary mechanical stick, but I prefer the optical Ascii overall, for Ika at least (the fact that I got good at the game by playing the Gamecube version, with the thumbstick of the official controller, might or might not have had a role in this).

So my expectations for this Hayabusa stick were high. I hooked it up to a PS3 and loaded a random PS1 shmup (Strikers 1945 II). Well, turns out this stick really doesn't feel right for shmupping. It has the right amount of resistance - not too loose or stiff - but the neutral zone is simply too large. The lever must travel quite a bit to register an input, which is already bad enough, but add to that the lack of any tactile feedback (no mechanical switches) that tells you when to stop moving in any direction, and you're left with a lever that feels sluggish, inaccurate and ultimately pretty useless for the precise movements needed for dodging shit. It's a far cry from how I remember the Ascii FT stick to feel (it's a been a while since I last used it, will have to dust it off on of these days).

I'll give this optical Hayabusa a couple other chances, but as it is now it's heading straight to the ebay dump

Does the fact that the stick course is weird may also come from the fact that it controls the analog stick, and not the d-pad ?
Maybe PS1 emulation on the PS3 automatically sets all input to analog.

Well, HRAPs are designed to be easily modified. I have an earlier model on the 360 and swapping out all of the inputs (the stick plus the 9 buttons) with brand new replacements was very straight forward. If the Hayabusa stick isn't working out.. just purchase a different stick assembly and install that instead. Does it use the 5 pin connector or the 0.187 quick disconnects?

Nope, it has to do with how the stick itself is built.
Kiken wrote:Does it use the 5 pin connector or the 0.187 quick disconnects?
Don't know about the buttons (they're fine to me), the stick seems to fit in the same mounting plate as the Sanwa JLF and differs for being slimmer and having one additional pin (for power): see here.

Even if a JLF were to fit in easily, swapping an optical stick for a mechanical one doesn't seem the best course of action to me. Optical sticks are quite uncommon while mechanical ones abound, so I'd rather sell it and buy a PS2 to PS4 adapter or even another PS4 stick. That said, I could certainly try some low-profile mod before getting rid of it, like changing the actuator (wonder if oversized kowal actuators would fit, I have one of those lying around) or fattening it up with some tape. If I can narrow the the dead zone until it's nearly non-existent I think the stick will be usable then (and resemble the Ascii FT stick more).

Hey, to find an Oculus Employee here on my favourite Oldschool-boards!

Yeah, the Quest is my first consumer Oculus Headset since the DK1 and DK2 days. I've gone Vive in 2016 because reasons (FB...), but the Quest... Oh boy, the Quest is just sublime, and made me throw aboard all my concerns about FB - it's just a complete package that was just too good to pass up. Vexorg, the people working on that headset really did an outstanding job - pass my congrats to them, when you have the chance.

It's been a couple of months since I last went but I've just picked up a Tokyo Marui Sgr-12 for Airsoft.

Probably shouldn't have though as I've only just shelled out 200 quid for a Logitech g27 wheel, pedals and shifter so I can play project cars in vr
