I have the Teenage Engineering Rhythm machine and it's pretty good fun.
Oh yeah, these things are great! It took me awhile to get used to the sequencer but now I'm majorly addicted and want to get their sampler.
I just wish that it had MIDI :) It's really good fun to play with and way more stimulating than messing around with a phone or reading the news paper :)
I have the rubber cover for mine too - the one that makes it look like a calculator.

For a 'real' drum machine I was thinking of getting a Drum Brute. Have you got any other drum machines yourself?

not really. I've messed around with some software-based Drum Machines but don't own any hardware. I've been looking into the Korg Volca Beats. The Drum Brute seems like a serious piece of gear. The extra functionality would probably be lost on me at this point. I'm still learning the basics, but the DB might be a nice thing to aspire to

What attracts me to the DrumBrute is that it's a complete piece of hardware that generates all the sounds directly in hardware. I also looked at the Volca Beats; it's sample based isn't it?
I kind of don't wish to spoil myself by spending top dollar on a drum machien right now, and also, Behringer will release their Neutron fairly soon and that looks to be a very decent piece of hardware.

I finally got around to buying a refurb Xbox One S. The UI is smooth when it works, but sometimes it'll stutter or appear to lock up and buffer inputs. Also, if you aren't using standby mode (and I never do), it takes awhile to start up. I guess this must be the full Windows 10 UWP experience at work. :p

I bet it runs better on an Xbox One X. In fact, I'm certian it does, because that thing is a beast compared to the S or launch model. All the S really does (aside from not looking like a big clunky piece of crap) is smooth out framerate and resolution drops.

Well, the games do appear to be free of the inconsistent performance that plagued the launch model and it's launch titles. So that's good. Looking forward to Crackdown 3, now. No, Terry Crews didn't sell me on it, a gameplay video did. :p

One nice thing is it supports 4K and HDR, so if I ever get a TV with that, I already have something that can play 4K Blu-Rays.

The reason it takes forever is that the green screen you get if not doing standby/quick startup is that it is clearing ram. Why it can't do that like a normal console is beyond me, but the launch model runs well these days! My sister has both the original Xbox One and an S model. Sadly the S model is not hooked up to the 4KTV, but whatever. Still not the hunk of junk everyone was trying to make it out to be!

rancor  , you know your part, how your clients need to be challenged, intrigued, flattered or dared, it's only the next toy they want without knowing it, and nearly the whole world goes this way (hail to women who know this better than us) !!.., well, let's talk about "human factor" ?! i can't write a book but here is an essay.., you should as some know from experience, that when a forgotten thing rises in a japan convention, suddenly it becomes sought after by specialists of good things, like the reunion MI68 ? , twitter has many pictures of the recent show with the Xevious fm77av running in real computer, they were only 3-4 pictures in yearS before that ! , and there was a UNIQUE video on youtube/nicovideojp about a real FM77AV... ("before" the 3-4 seconds of MI68 videos..). and if didn't mention it.. well how many times the FM77AV was mentioned on shmups forum for example ? ..TWO times in ten years ?! no joke you should have checked before  ... and the machine has some exclusive STG games nearly no one outside japan, talks about ?!.. (there is a single message about, Thunderforce, somewhere in this forum afaik)

i studied this thing since a while, they weren't present past year in YJA, the jump has some months only (i bought mine 3 months ago), i searched a good machine at fair price, .. worse i bought a faulty one, cord cut  so the odds were very low.. but i figure in lecture that a cut cord is not a problem, it's just human nature to solve, that can mean stockpile computers unused ?, i'm not sherlock holmes but with good lecture of certain minds and it was the case solved there.., (and as it follows the hype, i knew the good ones would go up to 600$, that's the case now), do you think "curiously" they wake up each month now in YJA ? there's always a reason, and MI68 & beepshop attendants are the reason mainly... , but that doesn't mean they go outside japan and people talk about it (yet...), do find someone talking of this computer now googling ? the most messages you could find are from 2012, essentially for a keyboard (because there are some types scarce) !! by a canadian who vanished.

by example, remember the X68000 compact 3"1/2 i talked about and predicted the fame here ?. i just saw the prices going from 40$ to 700$ since the problems of duplicating floppies were solved..). dont get me wrong, i know good shit from ages.. as some early gamers, didnt wait that japanese cabinets as astrocity or egret2 went cool, i got my stack of astros, a personal container, ...Twelve.. years ago (the second unit in my country, where i motivated without figuring it !, and where thousand were sold since)..,

https://hico-srv004.pixhotel.fr/sites/d ... AG4244.jpg

in this case, do a search about people who run a fujitsu fm77av, you'll find just partial or no answers but problems.. i just solved the usual problems with this machine and answered in a dedicated exotic forum. i'm not a genius or alpha (but a wolf perhaps & pissing to mark first territory is a thing wolves know), with few pieces of puzzles, extrapolated the missing ones, and that was needed due to to very few intel on this computer when it comes to duplicating floppies for real use, from emulator files ! (the essential tool is mentioned two times in full internet since 2 decades !!). and what about Rgb21 pinouts cords from scart ?, few & most faulty pinouts infos, etccc,. i would have much prefered following the ready thing with $$$, but as none succeeded really without it, i had to try this the low cost way.

(as usual.. people are people..) I bet and know that some owners (outside japan) will rise..., motivating people with forgotten stuff is cool, but not when the $$$ make the rules, good point for Beepshop & other resellers.. but personaly i prefer be certain to get mine, before the prices skyrocket when the hype of discussions are on (i've been a motivator seller to sellers, not the best but motivation is a word i could drive people on).. (but hey..it has none quality compared to Cave stuff or X68K, it's just a 8bits, nearly 16bits computer, who puts at shame sometimes the first european 16bits..) and miss sometimes the thing too, remembering i had a mint "pinksweets fullkit" & traded it for a broken machine , less than 10% the current price :? . that were my 2yuans of japjac. 2 thumbs up !

well in fact everything comes awesome or rare (except the dvd which rise in this thread & kill it..).. , how many backpacks alive in 2018, of this nintendo64 IMF i just found from personal graveyard ? (i worked defending the infamous n64 vs psx, we were destroyed, was a lost commercial war) . you know what, all this is just stupid & non sense, that's a lesson of life !

Daft Punk's Discovery in vinyl format. A bit expensive, but fuck it, it's one of my favourites. Now for ELO's Time! :)

Went to a CL meet-up and didn't get raped so there is that.

Got some PC parts for a project tower for $175, value about $300-350 so I'm pleased.

Nice, looks a beaut! JP N64 boxes are some of my favourites - got a nice vivid cover dimension, portrait-oriented with none of those invasive US/EU borders. Even old domestic favourites feel jazzed up, let alone the occasional true import exclusive like Bangaioh.

Seller pic of a recent get which was never particularly hard to acquire, but I wanted to ensure was in condition worthy of beloved Natsume. Hansei Zaru: Jiro-kun no Daibouken aka Spanky's Quest -

I hear ya.
Kept waiting for a complete and super clean edition for years now. Meanwhile the going price had increased threefold. Worth it in the end, though.

That JP Hansei Zaru: Jirō-kun no Daibouken box, puts to shame the Western one. Very nice.
I too, much prefer the orientation and general innards of the JP editions.

Maybe the only western/bordered box for N64 that I prefer, is for Banjo-Kazooie, which I also recently re-bought.

Image
The dark border seems to complement the art in this instance.

Obviously I only play the NTSC version but I missed my old Pal edition (for nostalgic and cosmetic reasons) and waited (a long time!) to snag a complete and barely used copy.
Now it sits in its shiny Polyethylene protective case, unopened and gets an occasional and reassuring glance! 8)

Who could have predicted, that in our gaming dotage, we would be giving cash for cardboard

Picked up a CLD D504 LD player from an old guy that used to run a karaoke place. Nice old guy. The player is easily checkable online so I figured posting pics of it would be kinda w/e, but it came with these cool cases, which are filled entirely with LDs. Also some other LDs by themselves in their sleeves. About 90 discs in total.

Large-ish pics in spoiler

Were those three fully operational? Finding one of them sorta-working happens, but as I was told (by a notorious whinger, mind, who nevertheless play car games devoutly) - typically devastated where it counts most.
Not bought (or even sought after), but I just found them SCUD Race pics:

It's a cool little game, in a genre that's very rare on the SNES. Not really worth the asking price (I got it for $70 which was even a bit steep), so a re-release is completely justified.

Outrun Coast 2 Coast, brand new. $40

Official Sony component cable - wait for it - $7. This is why I love my lgs.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.
