Darn that game went up in price. At least on flash cart, I can play a translated version with the brighter color hack.

It's always been expensive. I paid about £70 for my copy almost 7 years ago.

I get so sad every time I see Twinkle Tale and it's a little more expensive than the last time I saw it :(

Finally got around to picking up a reissue LP of this.
Very happy. One of my top 5 most-listened record of the past 2 years, for sure.
Always liked that cover, and here we get nice foil lettering, and beautiful amber wax

And yet, bittersweet post. 3; I am so fucking glad I got my high-end MD collecting done in relatively sane times. Snapcase inserts and sealed carts are a dreadful combination in this scurrilous age.
i'm excited to play it! trying to work up to a good mood for it, but my energy is sometimes hard to capture, especially when so much of it is being taken by the kitten, lately. i didn't put her in the shot on purpose, she just wandered over when i sat down because the game smelled interesting.

and, yeah, md collecting is some serious kind of hell, right now Image

i wonder if we'll ever see the bubble burst, really! prices for so many older games are just going nuts, and finding legitimate copies is getting to be an actual chore for some games. i feel it's only getting worse, too. i'm in kind of a panic to get my collecting out of the way, but we're not exactly super well off and in the position to do that with a pace that i'd prefer, despite what me picking up a twinkle tale might suggest. still, huge bundle of stuff coming this weekend, along with a week long visitation from a friend, so there will likely be a big post in here.
Koa Zo wrote:Im glad I sold my Twinkle Tale for $360, and got a $50 repro instead. Exact same experience and enjoyment.
Though for some dumb reason I slightly feel it sullies my library of MD games.
i just don't get the appeal of repros. they're usually relatively pricey just by themselves, and i feel like a lot of the point of collecting is the history and authenticity of the stuff. they lie in this weird compromise where i cannot understand why people who buy them do not instead just get a flash cart or commit to the real deal.

yeah, she's a girl! just a few months old, i posted another picture over in the pet thread that sumez linked. no idea what breed she actually is, some kind of shorthair, i assume. the shelter said she was part maine coon, but i'm thinking that may have just been assumption on account of the mackerel pattern.

Yes, I thought she was female. Good that you managed to give a cat a home :)
'Breed' - most likely a european shorthair but could be mixed too. I've had three large tabby males. There's something about big, male tabbies that appeals to me but to be hoenst I like all cats :D I stroked a cat who lives near my girlfriend the other day called Phoenix.

Hardcore. Image If you don't already have it, I recommend Virtua Racing Deluxe - besides remaining remarkably addictive, it one-ups the US/EU carts with onboard memory for lap time saving.

Cheers man :D I was planning on picking up the Saturn port for Virtua Racing (same goes for Space Harrier and NBA Jam TE) but is the 32x port better in your opinion? I really enjoy Virtua Racing overall, used to have the somewhat choppy Mega Drive port with the huge cart lol. Virtua Racing (and the same goes for Space Harrier) is pretty cheap on the 32x so if there's a reason to get it I'll just do so right now...

Saturn VR was kind of a disaster, AFAIK - it was outsourced to TWI, and supposedly has lots of issues. IIRC it's pretty cheap and seems to have a few proponents, so I've been kinda curious myself... doesn't seem like the perfect port it should've been, sadly.

The 32X version was handled by AM2 themselves, and although the framerate and detail aren't arcade-standard, it's a big step up from the choppy but playable MD cart. Ideally it'd have been on Saturn instead, but ala the same devs' Sega Rally port for that machine, it turned out improbably well.

Space Harrier 32X is great, definitely recommended! On the other hand, the Saturn port is even better with its analogue support, so it's probably more of a completionist piece nowadays. Beautiful port though, right down to its arcade-style DIP switch screen.

After Burner II 32X v Saturn is a similar situation, but in that case I'd firmly recommend the Saturn port - I just can't enjoy its more demanding targeting controls without analogue, preferably a flight stick. SH's simpler, twitchier action plays great on a pad, and as you say it's nice n' cheap on 32X, so it's far stronger competition for the later Saturn and PS2 ports.

Damn I had no idea, that's certainly a good enough reason! Thanks man, much appreciated, just bought it  Looking forward to checking it out!

Oh right, I forgot but I also bought Giga Wing 2 (JP DC), Popful Mail (JP MCD) a HAS + power supply, UD adapter etc. and another 360 stick... all located in inconvenient spots due to the renovations here at home, oh well...

EDIT: Cheers for the detailed answer regarding Space Harrier and After Burner btw! That's really good to know, much appreciated!

I didn't know GW was 4 player. Anything 4 player on the DC is dope.
You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

The JPN/USA NTSC 32X versions of Virtua Racing run at 30fps framerate whereas the Mega Drive/Genesis runs at a slower framerate (of course) but you'll get a higher framerate if it's run in PAL format (assuming if your MD is region modded).

MD/Genesis Factoid time: The JPN MD version of Virtua Racing has both the JPN and PAL versions of the same game included on one cart (to save on production costs in the long run) -- tends to run a tad bit faster "framerate-wise" if played in PAL format.

What's cool about those Sega 32X game carts is that you can choose to play it in it's original JPN, USA or PAL version if so desired if you have a region modded MD/Genesis console along with the obligatory 32X add-on.

The PS2 port doh... shames the rest.

It's the definitive one, but also kinda pricey these days. I have all three for various reasons, the PS2 one mostly cause I'm an M2 fanboy.

I wish they'd redone Power Drift. Saturn Space Harrier, ABII and OutRun are all basically perfect, where GFII and Power Drift are locked at 30fps and were handled by some noobs. Still, PD is on Yu Suzuki Game Works so can't complain much.

Both GFII and PD have nice ports on 3DS, as well! 3DS and Wii Space Harrier are also nice and done by M2.

3DS Galaxy Force II is superb indeed - I got the impression during my brief time with it (few years back) that M2 had basically ported over the brilliant PS2 AGES disc. Lots of the same options regarding BGM, if I remember right. Sadly I sold on my 2DS before long... I still need to get my hands on whatever physical release M2's 3DS Sega ports ended up on. Back then I got GFII off the European e-shop, or whatever it's called.

To be honest, my enthusiasm is slightly chilled by the small screen - I want Thunder Blade on a massive CRT! - but I'm kinda banking on there being a really good TV-out option someday. And regardless, the craftsmanship is of their usual model standard. In a way, having arcade-perfect, pocket-sized ports of those fire-belching super scaler cabs is a neat experience in itself. Came so close to clearing GFII on the bus home one night. With enough booze or sleep deprivation, it'd probably feel kinda like the old hydraulic cabinet! Image LEFF TURRN

Hacking the Wii U seemed too messy for me, and I <really> felt like playing Xenoblade X. So I purchased a japanese Wii U after all.
