A build-it-yourself G-1010 Silver Sword.

Image Image Image

Now to decide on which one of the four colour schemes to paint it in (after I finish putting it together)...

About the size of a PS2 joypad, at a rough estimate. Maybe a touch smaller.

Got it on YAJ. I've seen the model before on the maker's website, but this is the first time I've seen it on auction, so I bagged it before anyone else did. 7,000Y.
I've seen the Ikaruga and the awesome R-GRAY01 by the same guy on YAJ recently, too. Still kicking myself for not going for them.

Shit, that's too steep for me. I can't paint for shit either, so it's definitely not worth it. Wouldn't mind seeing some nice pics of your when it's done though. Maybe I can use it as desktop wallpaper. :D

I'll see what I can do. It'll be an ongoing project and may take a while, but I have enough model-making experience to hopefully do this justice (as I was a big Games Workshop nut a decade ago). I'm contemplating adding more detail to it, like rust, metal blemishes and bullet scratches, and perhaps putting some of the original decals on it (using flyer and concept art as a guide) but that'll be something to think about later.

Quickly trawling Google, I managed to dig up two good pics of the completed model, one painted in the Shatter Star colours, and the other in the standard Silver Sword colours. Although I doubt it, I'm hoping this kit comes with the four Options as well.

I'm getting quite excited about it just looking at these pics.

Nice umbrella! 8)

Icarus - I think the paintwork there is good. I prefer the standard silver, more iconic.

However, if I had teh mad skills with painting, I would make the exterior a little dirty, maybe slightly scuffed in places to give it that Garrega war torn look.

theyre long out of print and theyre doujin releases to begin with.

all come unpainted/unassembled (there are several other garegga ships aswell).
your best bet is to keep an eye on the seller ICR got his from since he has em up from time to time.

or just wait for the next comicet where these things are usually sold/announced.. after that theyre in abundance on YHJ for a week or two :)

UMPCs!

Replaced my eeePC 700 with a 900 20G, and also picked up a Vaio U8C (Chinese region U50) from a local guy. The U8C came with a crapton of stuff... well basically the only extras were the DVD writer and GPS and the rest are original pack-ins, but the price was alright.

It's rather low in RAM (256 MB) especially running a full WinXP Home install, and the memory upgrade will cost a fortune, I probably could have bought a UX180P instead, but I wonder how readable the screen would be. The screen on this U8C is still large enough for me to do some programming.

Image

What is pretty cool is that the U50 and the eeePC 900 are nearly identical in specs (aside from the RAM) despite the U50 being released nearly 4 years earlier, it was a real mobile powerhouse for its time.

God, this is so awesome.

But even more than plastic models that are mostly meant to be put up on display I would love a little die-cast metal shmup ship collectible series. I would be willing to pay a pretty obscene sum for both the Tiger Schwert and Panzer Jäger from Ketsui 8)

The new MacBook carved from a single piece of aluminium is pretty awesome. I got it and a 360 by exaggerating the damage caused by faulty wiring in my cabin. Does that make me a bad person?
