M2 Fapboy. I'm about to post my on the bay I think. I love it, and if I was still playing games (or even had a PS2) I'd likely keep it, but I can't have a $100 paper weight in the house. Not with so much single malt I want going out of production.BIL wrote: It's the definitive one, but also kinda pricey these days. I have all three for various reasons, the PS2 one mostly cause I'm an M2 fanboy.
Let's go find some old threads here about it not running in 240p...Still, PD is on Yu Suzuki Game Works so can't complain much.

As much as I like the 3DS, I do wish M2's SEGA ports would end up on more consoles. While I couldn't take advantage of it on my TV, it's neat that the 360/PS3 port of Super Hang On supports 3D. I also like how the Golden Axe collection has the arcade one and the option to play the JP version with the blood dripping on the choose your character logo.BIL wrote:3DS Galaxy Force II is superb indeed - I got the impression during my brief time with it (few years back) that M2 had basically ported over the brilliant PS2 AGES disc. Lots of the same options regarding BGM, if I remember right. Sadly I sold on my 2DS before long... I still need to get my hands on whatever physical release M2's 3DS Sega ports ended up on. Back then I got GFII off the European e-shop, or whatever it's called.
To be honest, my enthusiasm is slightly chilled by the small screen - I want Thunder Blade on a massive CRT! - but I'm kinda banking on there being a really good TV-out option someday. And regardless, the craftsmanship is of their usual model standard. In a way, having arcade-perfect, pocket-sized ports of those fire-belching super scaler cabs is a neat experience in itself. Came so close to clearing GFII on the bus home one night. With enough booze or sleep deprivation, it'd probably feel kinda like the old hydraulic cabinet! LEFF TURRN

ended up taking a ton of pics (including manual pics of every complete game), but after posting them elsewhere, i'm too lazy to make an imgur gallery for here. ask if there's anything y'all want to see. this was definitely my biggest haul this year, i order from a YAJ proxy a couple times a year & grab a ton of stuff for as cheap as i can. always looking at a lot so it's a huge ordeal to constantly track to make sure i get cheap, but i do it, anyway.

Holy! Awesome haul kitten lotsa great stuff!
Does this consist of a few YAJ lots you sent to the proxy, who then shipped it to you: or was it all bought in one huge YAJ lot?
Also : what's the difference between the 2 editions of umihara kawase shun?

2nd edition i think replaces the opening with something new because of licensing or something and features some additional stages that i believe are supposed to be extra tricky. it's a little more expensive (still relatively cheap) than the first because of its much more limited run, and doesn't come with the cool little display thingy the first comes with, that i already put on a shelf.
displayed right next to the little box + figure that came with sayonara. it's a mini-umihara you can put on your cup noodle lids to keep the steam in P:

The budding Super Sentai fan in me digs the Cyber Cross box art. Vul Eagle in Magnamon's armor, wielding a lightsaber...
And a Marchen Maze resin kit? Where in the world did you find something so niche? I remember looking for a resin T-16 some years back (a decidedly more mainstream subject, mind you) and only finding pricey garage kits. To say nothing of the numerous R-Type and Darius miniatures other members have acquired.

Spoiler
I've always wondered where this particular type of golden armor came from. Gokai Silver had a form with very similar armor, and I remember thinking it looked familiar then, too... I could have sworn Kingranger was the first character to wear something like it, but multiple Google searches have failed to turn up anything supporting that.

it's an old volks kit and part of a "game hero" series, so it probably wasn't that rare. i have a tab open just searching the kana for marchen maze to see if any neat flyers or doo-dads for the game pop-up, since i became weirdly enamored with it. there's a nice flyer for the arcade game up now, but it's way too pricey. a pretty cool button (two of them actually) and an old shopping bag, too, but idk if i want to spend 2k yen on those... (lol i might anyway T_T i also have a cool little miniature of alice from another namco series of gashapon figs, too)WelshMegalodon wrote:And a Marchen Maze resin kit? https://imgur.com/a/JMbnx (look at the hecking weird foam peanuts it came with that are pringles shaped)
the picture of what it's supposed to look like completed is just an ordinary polaroid, even has a date and some text on the back (picture i took is unfortunately really blurry, let me know if you'd like a better one). her panties & bottom are really uncomfortably detailed for a figurine of a child from a game i like :[ but i guess that's how these things often come, honestly. twas only 1500 yen, so i felt i better scoop it up now, rather than wonder how to get one however many years down the line i become crazy enough about the hobby to return the world of painting & assembling miniatures again.
edit:
what's t-16?
and also, here's some of the manual pics of cyber cross for you, they're really fun! i picked up this up suuuuper cheap at the cost of a waterlogged manual, but it actually ended up being just fine, at least for what i wanted it for.

Volks made quite a few models from B-list franchises like Panzer World Galient and Five Star Monogatari (and Muv Luv Alternative, surprisingly enough), so it might still be sort of rare. On that note, I can't seem to find a complete catalog of their releases.
And those Cyber Cross enemies do indeed look quite fun, especially KaniVulcan and IkaRocket. They're more or less the kind of villains you might see on a typical episode of Kamen Rider:
Though I always thought the Showa Sentai series had better monster designs:
Congratulations, you've now caused me to wonder whether the Chouon Senshi Borgman game for the Master System was any good. That was another series with some great monsters.
Oh, and a T-16 is this thing... I'm also a pretty big Star Wars fan. The Episode VII thread was actually one of the first threads in which I posted after joining.

First shmup pickup in a while, from a flea market($5!)
It had no case, so I took the blue box from another one. I actually had to go to town on it with cotton balls to get it to work.
Nostalgic.

There are many recordings of cantigas easily available these days, but this particular album, heard on the radio last year or so, lifted my spirits memorably once.

Star Trek: The Next Generation bluray set from the UK and the 50th anniversary version of the Next Gen movie set, also on blurays. TOS and TNG sets in those forms have interesting artwork. Makes you wonder why they went so generic for the original releases.

I'm at The Remains of the Day currently. Much reminiscent of Herbert Rosendorfer* books. If it's any "genre", that's the one.
*) All the more strikingly so as I remember times when Rosendorfer did not even have a budding English Wikipedia page. Very few native English readers must had been exposed to his writings until most recent years.
