More from Majoria - the official site for Oboro is up, though there's nothing there yet. There's also an article on the game at GPara - nothing new there, but some of the existing screenshots and art are available at higher quality.

This gem of a game (at least I hope it'll turn out to be) will be released in Europe by squenix sometimes next year.

YAY.

Hm, you got a source link for that?

Just watch, we in the US are gonna get screwed out of it, heh heh (though I'm honestly surprised that Odin Sphere was brought over here at all, I probably ought to just be grateful for that. Though I do wish the PSP port of Princess Crown woulda made it...).

Great news! I was going to import it, but I was kind of waiting around to see if it would be released over here... I'm pretty fussy about getting domestic releases of niche games on the release day. It's the only real way to ensure more get released.

I just got to the third boss during the Apocalypse and it's like running into a brick wall. I got to level my guys up some more for sure, but hell, it just make me want to pass on it and go play something else.
That severe ramp up in difficulty at the end of RPG's drives me nuts. Like the end boss in Arc the Lad - Twilight for the PS2. I got to him and he unleashed a lot of pain on me. I spent about half hour on him and died, then took the game out, put Odin Sphere in and never looked back.

One of my favorite games of the year.

For those of you who quit before the final bosses, you're really missing out.

The best advice for keeping your psypher level up is to abuse the Hell out of phozon release, just keep releasing/absorbing after you get it whenever you can, you'll level up like crazy.

Wow, I didn't even think of that phozon leveling technique. I'll have to try that.

You might've already seen the link on IC, but here there's an interview with a guy from Marvelous Entertainment, which is currently helping Vanillaware out with their upcoming game - he has a handful of semi-interesting comments about their work.

Quick note for anyone who might still be following this - next month, both Odin Sphere and the original Disgaea will be getting "greatest hits" re-releases, so if you missed either of them they will soon be available for 20 bucks new.

One thing that's got me scratching my head is that "Oboro" game announced for the Wii...I haven't heard squat about it in ages. Wonder where it went...

Speak o' the devil - apparently Oboro ain't dead, as evidenced by this trio of new screenshots. It's also scheduled to be shown at TGS.

Credit to Majoria, as usual, for the info.

Boy I hope this makes it to the States! I've never gotten a chance to play Grim Grimoire, but it looks pretty cool for a strat. RPG.

XSeed is bringing it to the states, and it looks awesome.

GrimGrimoire was enjoyable. The controls worked better than you would expect from a console RTS.

It's simpler than most other such games, but if you're not a regular RTS player (like me) that's not a bad thing. IIRC if a Gamestop near you still has new copies you can get it for 30 bucks, and cheaper used.

And yeah, as I mentioned in the other thread I'm eager to hear more about Oboro.

Looks like "Muramasa: The Demon Blade" as its now being refered to in the U.S. will support the classic controller as well.

I've taken my time enjoying Odin Sphere since US launch. Only approaching the end of Mercedes book, but again, games that have any repetition issues are best not to marathon imho. I look the food, potions, recipes, story, stlye, and its probably the prettiest 2D game I've ever played.

Funny thing, Princess Crown has sat on my shelf for far too long and I've never really got past the language barrier to get into it. GG I have not tried but usually RPGs loose me pretty fast, although when I was younger dumping 40-60 hours into a game didn't seem to phase me much - I think shmups are to blame ;) This new Wii title makes me VERY excited.

I'm excited! Odin Sphere became one of my favorite games, and I can't wait to play Muramasa. I want to play Princess Crown eventually, too!

They seem to improve their style for every new release. I can't help but think that this style is not suited for action games though. It's a little bit to stiff and stylized when it should have been more flowing. Judging from the videos it doesn't seem like it serves the gameplay mechanics; like you have to fight the art style too master the game.

Every now and again the Modest GaijinPunch does something that has no ulterior motive in gaining a laugh or pissing someone off.

No objections to linking in the least. Knock yourself out. As for where it's from, I will have to refer you to the bottom of the page. ;)

Also, someone's image here requires a username/password which is annoying.

By the way, has everyone seen this front cover to some American Magazine I have never heard of?

http://tinycartridge.com/post/174275345 ... oshi-based

Scroll down. Probably the most awesome/revolting image ever seen on the front of a mainstream videogame publication :D

If anyone's willing to post a copy of the September 2009 edition of Play Magazine to me (obviously in exchange for magazine, postage, arsing about fee), I would be pretty chuffed :D
