Man Grate's relationship with Norm has always been a little bit odd. They dropped the sponsorship immediately, but never stopped honoring the NORM discount code. And now they've been selling Norm shirts.

No more dry meat.

Just saw that Ryuichi Sakamoto passed away a few days ago, another pillar of Yellow Magic Orchestra. This is a shame, for some reason I had thought his cancer treatment was going well. I guess not. I was just listening to a bunch of YMO classics the last few nights too.

I always know it'll be bad when peeps into rad stuff bump this thread. 3; Legend. feels like just yesterday Yukihiro Takahashi's passing was noted here. The early 70s are a rough age to go, imo... old enough it's not out of the ordinary, but not in that "seen everything" bracket. He certainly contributed more happiness to the world than most of us can hope to! Solid State Survivor due another blast tonight.

He was basically middle aged by Japanese standards. Shibuya's infamous intersection is filled with young jackasses a plenty, but also 90-year-olds doing their own shopping.

Sheeeeit 3;

I'd have gone into oncology if I wasn't such a shithead in my youth. I'd tear down whatever sick cunts tried to stop me, or die trying. Disgraceful, a disorder of our very building blocks still torments us so. Fucking thing.

Aww crap. I love Sakamoto's solo stuff. I know he's been not well for a long time though and was making announcements about his cancer coming and going.

I was hopeful in 2020 when he made a live appearance and aired it on Youtube. He wanted to bring some joy to people stuck inside during the summer, and I can say it was comforting to me then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6td9KUZMfw&t=10s

Lasse Wellander, ABBA guitarist, 70, cancer. Sadly echoing Ryuichi Sakamoto's recent passing. Not nearly as germane to this hobby as YMO (outside of Dangun I guess), but he played on a lot of quality tunes. Alan Partridge wouldn't be the same without ABBA, either!

Also, BOB LEE, him what created CASHAPP, 43, stabbed in the street, San Francisco. Not really in my orbit, is Bob - but all my favourite GANGSTA THUGZ keep telling me to cashapp them! I wonder what for! :o Chomos rove it 2!

What am I doing, shitposting at this poor prick's funeral. It's even worse than reminiscing of furied loads blasted to now-elderly Hollywood starlets in one's youth! 3; He had a pretty awful end.

https://sfstandard.com/criminal-justice ... -stabbing/
Surveillance footage reviewed by The Standard shows Lee, who had already been stabbed, walking up Main Street away from the Bay Bridge at around 2:30 a.m. Lee crosses the intersection at Harrison Street and walks up to a parked white Camry with its hazard lights flashing.

Lee then lifts his shirt—as if to show the driver his wound and ask for help—and falls to the ground after the car drives away, the footage shows. He gets up and walks back toward the Bay Bridge before falling to the ground again outside an apartment building called the Portside.

At some point, Lee dialed 911 and repeatedly screamed for help, saying he needed to go to the hospital, according to the records reviewed by The Standard. Lee made the call at 2:34 a.m. and police arrived on the scene less than six minutes later.

Lee was unconscious when officers found him on the ground, police said.
Fucking hell m8.

To round out an upsetting post for our least pleasant thread: in Merseyside, RumpyPumpyShire, the cunt responsible for this has been convicted and caged for the hefty - by pitiful Crumpet standards - 42 years minimum. That's worse than carking it, imo! Albeit without the withering terror of BurgerPrison's fabled Arse Rape Squadrons - a multiracial task-force of big angry men, on a mission to blast your cornhole to opposite ends of the known universe, with their Ansatsuken no Jail House Loving! ("Jail House Loving Murder Fist" - as seen on hit HBO frightener Oz! These men can hit their target w/precision! Even while on the ground, prone! Backing up! Crawling away! Fighting to survive! These soldiers will pound your ass in the nearest broom closet - or die trying!)

However, word is he is for teh chop with WIN BIG 250 GRAND prize, and also, feared by teh crims to turn supergrass (that is STATES WITNESS, for Burgerfriends!). So he's kind of double buggered. Triple actually, as supergrass tends to mean relatively comfy living, and nobody wants that. Oh well. I hope to report on his unspeakable demise shortly!

Legendary MAD Magazine cartoonist Al Jaffee, of fold-ins and "Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions" fame, has passed away at 102 years of age. Almost exactly one month after having had his 102nd birthday, on March 13th.

That's quite the age to reach.

Blimey, now there's a good long run! I want to say, offhand, he drew a cartoon that makes my old man crack up every time, something I was always grateful for... a pantsless bloke about to get guillotined, the blade suspended by a burning rope over a candle. Or it was, as this was a GREAT ESCAPES FROM DEATH cartoon, and homie had farted the candle into submission, to his pricelessly smug relief. Next issue, readers were arguing over whether the methanous gust would've merely fuelled the deadly flame! It's the little things, you know :3 If it wasn't his, he at least facilitated its publication, with his long record of service!

Al Jaffee is amazing. Reminds me actually that Sergio Aragones is actually still working. His latest Groo The Wanderer comic miniseries just finished it's run at the end of March. He was always my personal favorite Mad guy.

All the nerds on the internet are talking about what a danger zone SF is after Bob Lee's murder... all the while I roll my eyes and invite them go strolling around Chicago, Detroit, or virtually any major city on the East Coast.

Those cats better steer clear of Killadelphia and Bodymore and Chiraq! Hell they better avoid even fookin Liverpool m8, ez to get stabbed n' shot in any big city, running about at 2am like a great big fanny. Particularly as it appears the killer was not Crazy Hobo, nor Gangsta Thug, but a fellow techbro! :o

My grandma met Jerry Springer in the 80s and said he was a really good dude. Before the Springer show, he had a reputation as a good-egg politico, who was fighting for the everyman. It's strange to think he might have been in Biden's shoes if the show never happened, but then they rarely let good-eggs stay in politics in the US.

The legend that is/was Jim Brown passed away today.

One of the greatest running backs and one of the greatest American football players of all time — arguably one of the greatest athletes of the 20th century.

Eight rushing titles, 4 MVPs and 1957 Rookie of the Year in the NFL.

Amazing athlete and all around badass: lettered in football, lacrosse, basketball and track at Syracuse.

https://www.profootballhof.com/news/202 ... wo-sports/

Elected to NFL Hall of Fame in 1971, Lacrosse Hall of Fame 1984 and College Football Hall of Fame 1995.

RIP Jim Brown

Rest well sir. 3; Always a dependable movie presence, too. I actually grew up not knowing he'd even been an athlete to begin with, haha... so many 60s/70s/80s favourites in my grandpa's VHS stash.

You're sure to be in a fine haze about now, but don't think too hard about all of this. Just go out and kill a few beasts. It's for your own good. You know, it's just what hunters do! You'll get used to it.

Takes genuine Bad Motherfucker energy to detonate a bound captive's entire mahfuckin head off, while holding a kid, and still come off sympathetic (Colin Salmon is amazing there too, you can hear a bit of Jamaican lilt peek through as he hurls his hands skyward and hollers "GAD DAMMIT CASSLE" - I love how you can tell he's not particularly disturbed at seeing another man's head explode like an airbag full of veal cutlets - just really, really fed up that Frank has made his shitty day even worse by annihilating his catch!)

Let's all enjoy teh scene! Image Image

I also think it's the best Punisher movie. Yes, even more than the 2004 one, because at least this one is set in New York much like the original comic book character, and it has Jigsaw as the main antagonist.

Tina Turner, an absolutely iconic singer, dancer, and performer. Her ex-husband, Cocaine Ike, made her life a living hell early on, but Tina broke through and became legendary. Known for her legs as well, a few times have heard she had the best legs in show business. She even did a Mad Max movie as well, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.

1939-2023, gone, but not forgotten.
