SP Review: Zippy the Circle Level 3 & 4 (PS4|5 - XB1 - X|S)

Post by Sturmvogel Prime »

What could turn Sunday into a disastrous day?, A NASCAR race postponed by rain?, Being unable to buy a great meal to break the weekend food habits? The return of the Bydo Empire in another R-Type Final 2 DLC? Well, it's none of them. It's because the time has come for another atrocious trash game disguised as "Christian Game".
In short words: Another of those "Bible Video Game Sundays" from Breakthrough Gaming. This time is Zippy the Circle Levels 3 and 4.

Just when you thought Superman 64 was bad...

Level 3 is a Semi-vertical "Fly Through Rings" stage where the objective is to pick all 15 of them in order to get a medal. This is where Trophy-progression is in the "Minus Space" of Pathetic: You'll be getting trophies for almost each damned ring: 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14 and the Medal (15). That's right, nine trophies in 1 single stage. While the controls are much better than the infamous Superman 64 game, this level of Zippy the Circle is as unfun as the Man of Steel's Nintendo 64 game. Also, there is no enemies or obstacles to get worried about. Even if you miss the rings you'll still clear the level. Basically there's no way to lose in this game, you'll always win, whether you get the medal or not.

Another "Treasure Hunt".

Level 4, like Level 2 in the previous game, is a "Find the hidden item", in this case is a key to advance to the next level.
Unlike the previous game, the camera angle makes things more complex since you can barely see the maze walls, and to make things more absurd, the medal is obtained by clearing the stage in 150 seconds.

The Holy Disco Ball.

If you've played the first Zippy the Circle game, there's pretty much the same. Well, there's a very few improvements over Zippy the Circle Level 1 and Level 2, and that can be noticed on the flying "Disco Ball" at the end of Level 3 and the background of Level 4 with those spinning gears. They look simple, but they're very small steps towards a considerable good direction, even for a low budget game.

Same "Newgrounds puked on the PlayStation" visual trash.

Cutscenes are the visual vomit of grey backround and extremely boring characters which makes you wanna skip the whole damn thing rather than pay attention to them or the story around.

The music is very similar to the previous game, with the exception of Level 3 where we have this "Experimental" ambient-trance mix that feels like if someone was trying to create a technological-like theme for the game, while Level 4 has this Nintendo 64 game-like trumpet with a few drumming which is also used on the game's cutscenes, and that's all to talk about the game's music.

ZIPPY'S CURIOSITIES
- Level 4 marks the return of the "Clear within time limit" gameplay mechanic since Our Church and Halloween - Story Three.

Still Don't Care.

Not even God's love is enough to have tolerance to Zippy the Circle Level 3 and Level 4's massive layers of self-insult and shame.
It's embarrassing to play this and think this is a game, not only that, a pathetic attempt to a "Christian" game in hope to make a buck out of christians. I'm sure they'd rather buy a Super Mario Maker game than this.

Is this enough to say "This game is horrible"?
