Story three of this sad, pathetic attempt to an RPG game, here we go...
Most...unsafe...wooden bridge...EVER.
Story Three resumes James' mission of resurrecting his parents on Halloween as you walk on the bridge, one of the characters will fall down and is up to Erin and James (you) to find her. As you climb down the bridge, you'll notice the game will omit the item searching and focuses more into battle as the new forest region has more ghosts that you can fight with.
Same battle mechanic, one new feature added.
The battle system remains pretty much the same as before, but this time Breakthrough Gaming and ProjectSummerIce made some slight adjustments to the battle to bring a little challenge. Starting off with a rebalanced damage to the enemies. This time you'll fight battles where you'll take a hit and your enemy will fall in two shots. Yeah, you can now take damage from your enemies and that's where the Item consumption comes to use, at first you start with 2 apples which can only be used when you're in battle, which kinda breaks with the healing item use in "Overworld" like most RPGs. However, you can try to not use them until you get other 2 and unlock the 4 apples trophy, that involves not to fight too many ghosts in order to save HP. But defeating ghosts gives you 10 HP to your gauge, and is convenient to get some extra HP from those fights since the game introduces a new type of ghost, the Leader Ghost.
Scott: Now I can carry on with my own dark experiments!
James: Why you treacherous little...
After fighting a total of two Leader Ghosts, you'll meet three shadows that resembles James and Marie's parents, but "Oh!, Cruel destiny!" it turns out to be a trap of Scott, the Pastor's son, who seems to have his own agenda and plan to take over the world using his creation: A machine that creates ghosts with his mind.
This game is basically saying "Give me another dollar to continue telling the story".
After this cliffhanger, the game ends encouraging the players to buy Story Four and resume the story. But before, there's still things to do with the game and that's getting the remaining trophies. This game, like the previous two will require you to play the game multiple times. While the majority of the trophies are obtained by clearing the objectives, there's those that require special priorities like not consuming the healing apples until you get four of them, this is done by avoiding unnecessary ghost fights, and there's the "Finish the game within the Target Time", which also doesn't specify that Target Time for some reason.
QUICK HINT: Need help to reach the Target Time?, here's a password to help you with that job: 05141006401
That password will help you to finish the game within the target time as it sends you right with the second Leader Ghost. The rest is up to you.
Who would expect that the ghosts are the best part of the game.
In graphics and sound its basically the same deal as before. Instead of repeating myself, please check the previous two reviews. The only novelty here was the animation of the new "Ghost Leader" which makes me think its a ball with cylinders troughout its body forming an "X". Like the regular ghosts, it has a 3D-ish effect when it rotates and spins.
OUR CHURCH OF FUN FACTS
- Last entry in the series where the "Time Target" is utilized.
In the end, the game still feels like a tech demo but it has a well aimed direction as the battle system was improved from Story Two giving the game the look and feel of a basic, yet functional and more playable demo than its predecessors.
It only needs to increase the length of the game since anyone without RPG knowledge can finish it in a few minutes and that keeps it on the list of Trophy Milkers, and its a very bad one, as if the game series climb from "Pathetic" to "Terrible" to "Very Bad". Even for a game sold by a buck is by far, an improvement from what Breakthrough Gaming (and ProjectSummerIce) has brought before.
Lea hates you.
Now, get out of here.
