Covers Created from Clay

Post by cicada88 »

But now, O Lord, thou art our father;
we are the clay, and thou are our potter;
and we all are the work of thy hand.

Cover art made out of photographed clay. paper or other physically constructed models used to be a pretty trendy style. These are often cool. Feel free to post anything similar.

Dynamite Headdy's JP cover isn't a physical model, but like the concept of the game itself it's a charming digital nod to traditional craftsmanship nonetheless.

Not clay, but I also really like this plastic-model/human mashup:

LOL, my buddy had that game when we were kids. If "BOOMER" had been flipping the bird on the US boxart it might've been redeemed. He's totally flipping the bird, he doesn't have the requisite under-eye tissue needed for the cliche anime taunting gesture!

those 3 little critters got blasted by his middle finger of death apparently

they were probably so shocked by his audacious lack of manners that it physically laid them out

I've never played Plok, but that boxart always cracked me up when I'd see it. Look at the intensity in those eyes!

Not a cover, but Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu 2 used clay figures (and a plushie) for some of its promo art.

Though when it comes to iconic video game clay, nothing will ever compare (in my book, at least) to the first Nintendo Power magazine cover.

(I actually thought the latter's Japanese cover artwork wasn't any better.)
