At least Thomas is being a true gentleman and ducking for the knife so it can hit his girlfriend right in the face.

It is actually not correct. This is the version I know, with more appropriate English:

I think the one we had here was a bootleg though.

I never even heard about Ken-Go. Is it any good?
Looks like a healthy mix of Rolling Thunder and Green Beret. (Not a big fan of the latter though)

Not played it myself - in case Squire's not around ATM I remember him mentioning it in the sidescroller thread.

I really like those classic anime-style covers:

Very cool biomechanical/occult styling - almost looks like an HR Giger piece.

I think there's at least 13% chance Giger could have been a minor influence on that image :3

Oh absolutely. Can't swing an armour-plated prehensile dildo without hitting a late 80s/early 90s boxart influenced by his trademark cybernecrotica. :wink: It's not too often I see something Giger-influenced that makes me check to see if he actually created it like that piece did, though. I'm more used to lame stuff like Devil Crash's cover, for example. 3;

Yeah, it's definitely an excellent example of how to properly adapt his style.

I like the necromantic deacon crown on biomechanical spider skeleton. As said it's giger but it decisively slants things more towards fantasy horror then scifi with some skillfull technique.

Yeah, as said before, it's an interesting system that's a bit one dimension-ally designed, but fun none the less. I think I was a bit harsh on the level design up there, it's not bad.

You spend most of the game blocking and unleashing devastating wooshes. It's quite fun how the game throws some seriously insanely speed enemies at you with the prequiste that you don't have to manually evade most of them. Hectic but comfortable. I just wish there was more tactical reasons to let your guard down once in a while and hack shit up. It's basically charge attack or bust.

It's kind of like Recca's bomb/shield mechanic, with a similar downfall in that its a bit too defensive. I'd love to see either games central idea revisited with a more rock/paper/scissors esque balancing of rapid slashing/shooting vs blocking vs charge attacks.

Worth a look if interested. I've been planning to put more time into it for a while.

After a little digging, turns out it's a Giger piece after all. It's a crop of "The Spell III" - the original is included in the first Necronomicon collection.

^ very readable website btw, with lots of nice visuals. I've taken a shine to 'em in the year since I got into the PCE proper. Check the page for a higher-res, logo-free version of the cover crop.

The original piece (click image for full res):

Formidable work, as to be expected from the maestro himself. I particularly dig the suggestive composition, casting a phantom Baphomet visage against the eerily vacant pseudo-crucifix. Also the rightmost arms seemingly thumbing a lift and throwing the \m/etal horns, haha. Excellent pick, gbaplayer!

Hey Shelcoof,

That's ABEL, not ABEE. (Will help if you want to search out more information about it.) I thought it was an "E" at first too... the left side of the letters are identical.

I assumed that ABEL was for the Mega Drive from the pics, but it's actually for the FM Towns.

This seems, and may well be, the sort of thing I'm often a decade late on... but just in case, here's a nice stash of videogame fanart from 2chan's Retro Gaming board (according to the English version's header; the link's on the upper-right): http://retrogame.info/ Fair bit of cheesecake, but it seems relatively work safe... however, as always in life, obscenity may erupt forth at any moment - so exercise judgment!

Stuff's generally low-res but it adds to the charm imo. Got as much of a kick out of identifying the source games as I did the art itself, in just the tiny fraction I had time to browse. A few I kept:
