SPECIAL NOTE: For consistency reasons, get your high score from the title screen, not the game over screen. I've noticed that my high score on the title screen is a little lower than what shows on the game over screen (maybe the score shown on the game over screen includes enemies which were destroyed after you died?). Granted, the difference is pretty negligible, but for fairness sake let's stick to the title screen score.

The game can be found here.

Should have all the replays saved. I don't like normal mode though. x_X

On a side note, I'm amazed there's not an online replay library of Gunroar. :( This game deserves a ton more attention

Wow, you just blew everyone out of the water in 'Mouse' mode. You are now tops on two of the 4 separate tables. Congrats.

You could always post your replays in this thread. It would be a pretty half-assed way of making a replay library, but it'd be better than nothing.

I started off playing Normal mode, but once I started playing Twin Stick mode, I never looked back. I think Kenta Cho himself prefers Twin Stick mode (I don't remember where I read that, though... so maybe I'm wrong). I thought about giving Normal a shot to take the #1 slot, but never got around to it.

I don't care for Double Play or Mouse. Maybe I would if I put more time into them.

Can't stand Twin Stick mode. I hate multiple direction firing systems that only shoot 8-way. That's why I prefer normal or mouse, but playing mouse mode too much might give me carpal tunnel. :(

I used to play Smash T.V. a lot back in college, so I felt comfortable with Twin Stick mode right off the bat. To each his own, I suppose.

Yeah, I can understand the advantage to using it, but it is just uncomfortable to me. Minor adjustments to my aim are much easier with mouse mode.

kejardon.tripod.com/Misc./KejReplays.zip

Copy and paste the link (and put in a http if you need it), Tripod doesn't like direct linking.
And I was hoping for a library you could directly upload replays to or something. :/

Anyways, I must've lost my Double Play replay, so I put in my second highest one instead. I'd have to say I'm most proud of my double play games, so I'm kinda disappointed I lost *that* one.
The mouse replay, I feel like the game just gave me a ton of points even though I didn't deserve them. It's definitely not my best game, even though it's my highest score.
And the Twin Stick high score, the game seemed to *refuse* to give me points or something. x_x
And then there's one last, short replay in there, with the biggest boss I've ever seen yet. XD Blitzing is great fun.

Davey, I noticed in your twinstick game you switched between wide spread and narrow spread. How did you do that? That would be a great help for me

You could always join our youtube shmup group and make submissions to youtube. Although I think there is a limit to how big the filesize can be unless you join as a 'directer' or something.

Twin Stick Mode
Pirate1019 - 16,511,490

I take back what I said about Twin Stick mode. If I use my controller instead of the keyboard then it is awesome.

Despite it being a giant, frustrating exercise in headaches, I love Double Play. It's really the only mode I like. The ship feels too weak in Normal, and Twin Stick on a keyboard = instant fail; I haven't bothered with Mouse though. I see in your DP replay that you're much more patient than I am. Didn't know you can damage things off the screen like that...

P.S. Nice scores.

I wish I knew. Maybe I accidentally hit one of the shoulder buttons on my gamepad and that triggered the change. I'll have to dig it out of my closet and try it sometime (I've just been using my HRAP stick lately, haven't played Gunroar in months).

If you are using a USB controller like me, I think that the spread shot is a result of tilting the second analog stick (the one that aims the shot) only part way. I find it almost useless because the ratio of # of bullets shot to the spread angle is terribly skewed. You can't use the spread without effectively destryoing any kind of power your shot has. It is better just to keep it at full concentration and just mow across the screen.

dang. I use keyboard. >_<
Spread shot is really nice for picking off swarms of small boats, and also on keyboard, I can't aim between straight and diagonal, so even that little bit would help if I'm pinned down and can't get a direct shot on boats.
I also tend to use spread shot if I'm too focused on my ship to pay attention to what I'm shooting at.
erm. That's with mouse, btw. Left click is focused, right click is spread.

Yeah, using a keyboard for twin stick netted me about 600k tops. Once I figured out how to use the controller for it my score jumped big time. With a controller you can actually aim 360 degrees, not just the 8 directions (if you have an analog stick on your controller). They are a good investment. I bought a $20 Logitech one from gamestop.

*sigh* All of my deaths were extremely stupid ones. Are there any extends or is it 'three strikes your out' rule?

You keyboard people boggle my mind.

No extends, at least that I know of. Sharp contrast to his previous games that relied on frequent extends (Parsec47, Torus Trooper).

No kidding, it took me a little while to adjust when I first played it. Nice to know he won't pigeon hole himself into one kind of shmup though (except the free kind :D ).
