New Vulgus thread

Well theirs a checkpoint for every 1000 point enemy or special enemy cluster. So you have a shot at revenge on whatever killed you. It pushes you no further back then on the exact group of enemies that killed you, it doesn't fuck over the player in any way except on the 2nd loop space area's which I can't explain now.

Edit: The checkpoint system when you fight the Vulgus or do the bonus missions in space will move you to the land area ether before or after depending on whether your before or after the middle point of the space area. I'd also like to recommend killing the special clusters with your normal shot then maxing out your missiles and continuing to collect items. This not only gives you a shot at 5000+ per-cluster after you've gradually built up from 500 points it also gives you a shot at the stars that show up based off of how many items you've collected and how fast.

Got this yesterday after playing a few casual credits a year or two ago ; looks like it loops after 3 regular areas ( & 3 space areas in between). Might come back for another loop at some point.

I had a great time with this game and recommend playing for score using missiles, the fun way! (even if it's not the most lucrative way)

- Normal run, using missiles
SPM - Normal - 2nd loop (2-3) - 359,000 - MAME (Set 1)

- Broken run, no missiles & CP milking
SPM - Vulgus trick - 1,100,150 - MAME (Set 1)

EDIT: VERSION DIFFERENCES

Set 2 (the one with just 3 characters on the scoreboard screen instead of 10) fixes the checkpoint milking! It only lets you kill Vulgus twice. The second time it will respawn you in the next loop no matter what.
