Practiced vigorously for the last few days until I knew the game way better than before and managed to improve my result to a 3-miss. Could even be a 2-miss if I had less mistakes but I guess that'll come later.

Might keep practicing until I improve my survival even further. Might look into Hell and Doom modes because why not. Might switch to other games to see how my general skills have improved. We'll see.

Studied the game even more and managed to push it to a 1-miss. No-miss is reachable (almost got it in this run, actually), but I do want to cover whatever route and strat weaknesses still remain. That way I can also save some bombs for chain linking. Wasn't sure if I'd want to try scoring tricks in this mode at all but now it doesn't look out of the question anymore.

Eden's Edge hell mode is quite interesting and I wouldn't mind playing along with you. Possibly his most original idea, just a shame his games don't have better art. I feel that's the one thing holding them back from a wider appeal as games that a player would dedicate a large chunk of time to learning.

Art? Hmm. The character sprites and portraits are fine, but enemies do look like weird 3D prerenders, and backgrounds were made from free online assets IIRC. Gotta admit, the featureless sky/water/whatever stages in Edge are probably the reason why I had trouble memorizing them until now. At least BWR and Aegis are somewhat better in that regard. But yeah, remembering my first impressions, these two things do make x.x games feel kinda cheap and lacking visual appeal. (Though Green Wind is an exception and is all handmade spritework. These things first appeared in Blue Wish.)

As for Hell mode - yeah, I can see myself trying it out sometime soon. Don't have much idea about its scoring system yet, but looking at the board it should play a more prominent role for the end result. Curious about how it'll go.

Added a new replay column. My current feelings on the matter are that replays are highly encouraged, but not required. Also, inspired by Plasmo's Donpachi thread, I've added a couple "interesting replays" located at the bottom of the OP.

Added a score that had been posted to the older thread. I thought about updating the tables silently, but the fact this is the only video (as far as I'm aware?) for an accel mode clear of Eden's Aegis is pretty impressive and worth noting.
