Phalanx [X68000/SFC/SNES/GBA]

Post by Perikles »

Decent little shooter with an actually working, albeit simple, scoring system (at least the SNES version)! I don't know if the SFC version differs from the SNES version, but I'm going to make one combined table for both until further notice. Keep in mind that the game starts on the Easy setting by default (again, at least the SNES version). The neat thing is that you get more points for your remaining lives the higher the difficulty is, just like in Thunder Force III & IV.

One credit only, of course.

Great work as always, pegboy. I haven't watched the entire video yet, but you don't need to in order to see that the game is pretty darn tough on this setting. Also good find regarding the milking, I did not know that. I always killed the seventh boss right away, so I never found out about the infinitely spawning minions. :)

Thanks, I've never even played the game on normal so I'm not sure how much easier it is than on Funny. The most hilarious thing is when some enemies will fire lasers and then the lasers themselves will shoot bullets at you. This game definitely has the highest bullet count I've seen for anything on the SNES, but I haven't played everything on the system yet.

It's kind of too bad that you can infinitely milk the stage 7 boss, otherwise this game would have a pretty nice scoring system. Oh, well, seems like there's always something on these console games that breaks the scoring entirely.
