Nice to see some interest in this game! With a shiny new thread I should actually update with my best scores:

Cardinal Sins - Trial
colour_thief - 143,937,950 - ALL

Cardinal Sins - Normal
colour_thief - 137,655,010 - ALL
Plasmo wrote:Cardinal Sins - Trial

First (and last) try at Trial.
Aww, might I ask why you're not into Trial? I'm the opposite, I've barely touched Normal. I don't feel Normal's additional randomness adds anything, and the only other difference I've noticed is your spread shot is slightly shorter range. Which is mostly inconsequential.

Nice scores!

I'm focused on "Normal" simply because it seems to be the default mode/difficulty. "Trial" feels more like training to me.

Might as well throw these up. I'd like to hit level 50 on the Marathons (except Greed, which is bad and makes M-KAI a bad person)

Marathon - Envy
CSF - 36 - 11,861,210 [pic]

Marathon - Greed

So that's the difference between Trial and Normal?
Random stuff, shorter spread range and no timer display?

Normal mode

Immryr - 34,865,970 - not sure 8 I guess - the section with the spinning hockey sticks of death.

This is my first credit playing this game. It's a lot of fun so I will more than likely be back with an all score at some point!

Normal
Enigma- 123,370,810 - All

Died right at the end of Wrath costing me the full S-rank. Would have been over 130 million without that since - 3 million for the A rank compared to S then minus 4 million from the pickup in the final stage when compared to S.

Also around 14 million from the finishing bonus. I know it can apparently get higher, but I'm not sure how it'd calculated outside of time or just how high it can get.

Plus I have to be missing some points somewhere not counting stuff like getting RNG screwed in the first stage, which is really a few hundred thousand lost at the most. But obviously losing points elsewhere too. I've gotten to 400-500k + in the first stage with good RNG, then end up with a lot less on bad RNG. Randomness doesn't seem to affect most of the others too much. I'm also not consistent with S-ranking Greed but can get most of the others minus Wrath obviously with some consistency.

Got the Full S rank for every stage. Improving this will be a pain since now a failed S rank = reset. Any tips for optimizing score in the sin stages while not messing up the S ranks?

Not sure if you'd prefer making a new post or editing old ones though, but I won't be playing this very much anyway.

It's been so long now that it's hazy for me, but I broke down the main non-S rank scoring opportunities in an STG weekly episode:

https://youtu.be/-kE7I6N1oE0

It's the last third or so of the video. I'd be referring to this same video if I picked the game up again!

Normal
Enigma- 133,970,340 - All

Very small improvement. This was the 5th or 6th time I had full S ranked the game, most of them ending with not clearing. Did get All Scan during one of my failed runs, so now I have all the CS related achievements on Steam, now need to get the achievements on the JSS side but rustyness.

Trial
Enigma - 128,184,540 - All

A rank on Wrath, S rank all others. Didn't care, did this run to get the Steam achievement for Trial.

Probably won't be playing CS again now unless they ever do another contest for it. I was grinding CS Normal and didn't think the 131 million wouldn't hold up in the top 3 so I tried to improve it and barely did so. I didn't even think this would necessarily hold up, but I was tired of playing the game, and it turns out that only 2 people had broken 130 million, so I would have been in top 3 anyway.

Posting for gimebe who seems to have locked himself out of the forum. Shortly after I overtook him in JSS Normal he countered with a very strong CS Trial score.

I noticed he'd deleted both his scores here by editing the posts to be blank, and then I checked out of curiosity; every single score submitted in the Hi Scores section's been deleted by him in 2018, including this one from 2015. You sure he wants to submit here? :/

Score added, I trust you on this one.

However, I'd strongly encourage him to get his old account back. Shouldn't be a problem either by requesting a new password or by contacting the mods on a dummy account. If all hope is lost, just create a new account - will be worth it in the long run.

Not a big fan of editing/deleting your old score posts or third party submissions.

The score itself is very good, so congrats on that.

All good points. I don't understand the history exactly but I think something about the community upset him and he's not interested in coming back. So it's a social issue rather than a technical one. I have no idea who did what or if an apology can reconcile things.

I'm torn because I'm just a middleman who thought this leaderboard deserved the WR on it. Especially with a nice video demonstration showing good new ideas. 3rd party submission was my idea and I did specifically get consent to share it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see further improvements, should I not post them here if things don't get resolved?

A new WR from gimebe! He's very hungry for that 150M score. :)
Btw I'm still not sure where we landed on this -- if I'm randomly in the middle of deeper drama I'm oblivious to, by all means let me know and I can stop posting his scores here. As previously stated he's fine with his scores being shared he just doesn't personally want to be a part of the community anymore.

I've been playing CS this month. What a great game! After this I look forward to playing more caravan games. :D

I may push the score further at some point (something closer to 145M would be great), but that will have to wait.
