I actually got this a few weeks ago, but I'd like to improve on it at some point. Too many of those many lives wasted :(

Nifty - 804,400 - 2-1 - ON/4 - MAME/World

The music in this game is so depressing. I love it.

Ughh. Sometimes there is a glitch where my highscore shows up as E's and 0's, and my initials won't register despite being entered.

This happened during the run, but my actual score is hanging out at the top.

The score glitches as E's and 0's in the table once again. EDIT: You can actually make out all the digits on the hi score up top.

Anyway, here's my contribution:

Just let the game finish me off at that point, had over a dozen lives left. Outside of Vimana, this has to be the easiest arcade shmup counterstop when it comes to marathon runs. The increase in difficulty is negligible, you gain extends like mad, rank immediately drops down if you die, bombs are plentiful as well as strong, bosses have really simple patterns and everything that may look like a devious set-up can be handled with minimalistic strategies. I'm shocked that all those tanks that come from behind and never shoot in the first loop stay that pacifistic in later loops, Visco really couldn't be bothered.

I may or may not upload an excerpt from the run, loop 4 was a no-miss - if I am not mistaken after all this playing - while loop 5 was an ennui-induced mess. Might be a neat contrast. We'll see.

I don't feel positive about not having a picture of the high score table + initials. My convoluted story...

35% of the time the board resets after a game over as soon as the hi score table is presented. My run ended during the first half of 4-6. The picture of my high score is from the stage clear bonus screen at 4-5 (so if my score is acceptable, maybe it should be listed as 4-5?).

Luckily, I anticipated that the board would reset during this run, so I took a picture after clearing every stage during the fourth loop.

etc.

EDIT: My old score posted in this thread also came with a different kind of high score glitch complaint.

Also, the fourth loop feels almost easier than the first (this isn't the case for loops 2 and 3). Bullet speed seems slower and enemy resiliency seems unusually low even when rank should be "high".

Man, that's really unfortunate. Good job though. I wonder if the rank value wraps around at that point, and maybe doesn't start at zero. Definitely not the most solid programming in an arcade shooter...

Perhaps.

I don't doubt this.
