I've taken over the high score thread from CptRansom since he was looking for a new maintainer. CptRansom, thanks for hosting the old thread!

Image

In general:
- One credit only
- All shop items except "Invisible Operator" are banned, including "Marked Bee"
- All settings for difficulty, extends etc. must be on default
- If you're using the Xbox 360 version, then you have to download the patch to update to ver1.01. Otherwise you'll experience additional slowdown when displaying extra windows, which would make the game easier for you.

Bookkeeping:
- There is no hard limit for entries in the high score table. The old limit was 15 per shot type in Arcade HD and ver1.5, as well as 10 in Novice and 360 Mode. I'll extend the high score tables to 20 each, and depending on activity, may increase it further.
- Shot types share a high score board; there is no separation between ship types.
- Type D (Saya) is arguably the strongest character in the game, and has to be unlocked outside X360 Mode. Scores reached with Saya will be put in a separate table.

Submission rules:
- For all modes EXCEPT 360 Mode, please indicate a clear after Kouryu as ALL, after Hibachi as ALL2, and after Inbachi as ALL3
- For 360 Mode, if you didn't beat Inbachi, you didn't beat the game.
- Indicate whether you've played the Xbox 360 port (X360) or the arcade version (PCB)

For modes other than Xbox 360 Arrange you are welcome to indicate whether you have reached Inbachi in the following way>
5-Boss
ALL
5-EX
ALL-EX
5-EX2
ALL-EX2

suppose i'll update one of my lousy scores.

1.5 MODE
LASER
Mimiroru - 7,812,392,522 - 5 - Type B - ON

almost a clear despite dozens of dumb deaths/autobombs. at least 10 billion should be possible for me.

Oh cool nice to see this thread is still alive. I've made a little improvement, still no clear though. Think I need to come back to this once i've honed my skills a bit more. That last stage is a bitch and i'm having more fun playing Batrider at the minute. Anyway, new (crappy) score:

ARCADE
LASER
Paper/Artillery - 2,167,766,606 - 5 - Type C - OFF

I've updated the scores. I recently (finally) got a stick, and I'm seeing some noticeable improvement with parts that gave me a lot of trouble with the X360 D-pad. I have not fully gotten used to the stick yet, though. My current hi-score is about 4.5 billion, but I think there is the potential for a bit more.

Only got to stage 3. #65 on Japanese leader boards. Are the leaderboards different for North American and Japanese 360's? I'm assuming they are.

I'm utterly amazed by this score. Was this an entirely perfect run, no-miss, no-bomb, no broken chains? You're probably aware that your score is a staggering 34 times higher than the current high score.

The score is completely ridiculous because of the overflow, it was by no means a perfect run. I made some mistakes in stages two and three for example, but pretty much everything that happens before stage 4 is irrelevant if you plan on triggering the overflow. My run through stage five also wasn't perfect, but I didn't make any major mistakes either (aside from dying on the boss).

Okay, thanks for clearing this up. I thought the problem in SDOJ was that it counterstops, not that it overflows. I'll have to think about what to do with scores like that in the high score table. I don't think many people will be able to replicate what you did. Do you think it would be a good idea to have something like a "special mention" of people who did manage to get the score counter to overflow, but otherwise leave the score tables unchanged? As far as I know, only Arcade 1.5 is affected by it.

Isn't there a setting in the option to fix the score bug in the X360 port? I have to check this, but if that's the case, then I'll probably have to insist that this option is enabled for submitting scores. (I'm just thinking out loud, as the maintainer of the SDOJ hi scores thread, so people should feel free to chime in.)

Score Attack has the bug fix already(sadly), so you have to play on Normal play if you plan to try a score.

In order to be comparable to the arcade records, you should allow for the score bug to be in effect. It is a stupid glitch, but not allowing it just makes the scores not comparable.

I'm just glad they had the fix be optional so that the port is playable for score unlike the Pink Sweets one.

I'd just have a separate table for overflow scores.

There is a 'score fix' you can turn on in the options, but once you do that, you'll be playing an altered version of the game. Scores between the PCB and the port won't be comparable because everyone in the arcade has no choice but to play with the overflow. Since I like to gauge my progress by comparing my scores to the world records, I prefer to play the most accurate version of the game that's available. So for better or worse, the overflow is part of what makes SDOJ the game it is.

I might, but I'd like to get 1+ trillion before uploading any videos. I just posted this score because I'm bored of the game and I might just stop playing before I can beat it. and to see the reactions lol

I don't see a point for a seperate table for it, especially when only like 4 or 5 people on this forum will probably even ever do it.

Plus, you're pretty much going to use the same routes regardless of whether it's on or off.

Okay, for the time being I will collect all scores where the overflow bug was triggered in a separate hi-score table. Given the small number of people who have the potential to trigger that bug, I will, for now, NOT separate the scores by game mode, meaning that shot, laser, and expert will share one table.

Think of it as a list instead. I will record the mode, though. So, if iconoclast triggers the bug in both shot and laser mode, and posts his scores, he'll find his name twice in that list.

I'm aware that this compromise might be unsatisfactory for some, but as long as there are not dozens of people routinely triggering the score overflow bug, it seems to be a perfectly serviceable workaround.

I'll add such a table the next time I'm updating the hi-score entries.

Please don't do this, run the scoreboard normally. It's not a random bug, it's a scoring route which takes skill to execute, same as any other. For people who wish to avoid the overflow there's Ver 1.5 and other modes on the port.

If you want to add separate score tables though, please consider using the same layout as the DFK thread with individual tables for each ship combination, i.e. A-S, A-L, A-E etc. It would take up more space but also add an incentive for people to use the other ship types, such as B or C Shot for example.

I thought it was considered a bug. I get your point, so the hi-score tables will remain as they are.

Also fantastic job with the A-Shot arcade HD run on the mid-boss 3, you're the only one i've seen doing this and getting so much points on it in such a very short time. Impressive. :)

Don't worry, I'll update the hi-score tables soon enough. First I want the dust regarding the counter overflow to settle. Backtracking after some changes would be quite a pain in the neck.

Cool cool, i personnaly have nothing against putting all togheter overflow and "regular" scores from human being , because as a owner of both xbox 360 port and PCB, the "bug" is on the PCB, and for me that is the original game, therefro there is no reason why we should not included crazy score from the original PCB, even it has been made on e the 360.

my 2 cents

It's a legit score on the PCB and this is a thread for both so I see no point in separating it.

Fantastic job iconoclast!

#2 on XBLA, and 50bil+ target finally achieved. 53bil+ potential, but won't be going for it, as I've been pushing for an improvement the past month and a half, and I'm now burned out on Saidaioujou.
Replay to be featured on STG Weekly this weekend, and will be followed by a HD release on YT straight after.

Bye, new thread.
