For the Shienryu western record, Kollision's 14M score should be included here. It seems it's been overlooked and not included in the Shienryu scoreboard here so far.

That DSMBL score... that's a pretty big push for Windia, about 1/1.5b extra.

New Arcadia is out. I couldn't write down any of the scores, but here are some notes:

- It took 20 years, but someone found a way to counterstop Daioh. Apparently, there's a way to reliably trigger an enemy that drops a 1up over and over (suiciding, then restarting at the checkpoint).
- 4.1 billion score in Mushi Futari BL Original
- Still no Inbachi clear in SDOJ
- New Homura Japanese score, still not as good as abschüssig's

Arcadia goofed again and printed a score lower than the current record, this time with Ketsui (460m? That sucks!)
Might be a different score but I noticed today this site claims SPS took the Omote B ship WR with 454m in that issue.

It's nice that you guys think that I hold the western Galaga '88 record, but unfortunately no.

Johnny Galaga has a much more respectable score of 1,713,230 on the Japanese romset on MARP. Not sure if this has been bested on a PCB though.

Arcadia doesn't keep track of scores from Mushi 1.5, even though it is available in arcades, so I don't know what the records are (besides the counterstops).

This is something I've been mulling over a bit: do people here think we should include modes or games in these listings from home ports and use the leaderboards as the "official" records? Due to the fact that there's no database like Arcadia for home ports, those scores are harder to come by, but with the advent of online rankings that's becoming less of a problem. In the rare case where we have found a score done on a port that exceeds that of the original arcade score, I do use that instead (the DFK BL Bomb record, for example). The leaderboard rankings are also less competitive than their arcade counterparts, but that shouldn't necessarily be a reason not to use them.

If enough people here want to see these scores added (DFK Arrange A, Pink Sweets Arrange, (ahem) Muchi Pork 1.01, etc.) then we can do that.
Anyway, congrats for the bunch of records you hold yourself !! :D
Thanks, but none of my "records" are really worth a damn. Personally, I think holding a Cave record puts one at the top, not necessarily because I like the games better, but because they're just so popular and competitive. To me, having the world record in DoDonPachi is the biggest accomplishment in the genre.

I'd enjoy having console-exclusive modes here.

(I'm not just saying that to get myself on a Western Record here  )

I think adding port scores is a no brainer.

Personally I think you should stick with just arcade games, most arrange modes are pretty lame IMO and nowhere near as competitive. If you're adding console exclusive modes, you may as well start adding console exclusive shmups.

If you decide to include them, they should be in that section at the end with Crimzon Clover so they don't clutter up the rest of the list.

The issue with ports and mame is that they're almost never arcade-accurate. For a list like this, neither should even be considered. Arrange modes are just silly.

I'm with you 100% on the mame thing. Defo should NOT been considerated at all for an official rank or anything close to that.

Now that said, leaderboard on xbox are at least "official". I mean by that it has been played only on the original port made by the manufacturer such as Cave, for exemple. Wich is according to me and many other, very very close to the original PCB. Excepted a few difference of course such as different slow down at some point. In my case I know very very well Mushi Futari 1.5 maniac, I do not see much difference exepcted some slow down that exist in the port wich doesn't in e PCB (stage 3, the big bugs where you can refill gems in the "balls" they fire over, for exemple). No way to cheat as far as I know ?

How many of the western scores are already ports and/or MAME?

For WRs, maybe a good compromise would be to leave the Arcadia score on the list but list the higher run parenthetically.

Arrange modes would be nice to have if we can get them, but will be difficult to find WR info on them (games with leaderboards nonwithstanding). Would make the most sense to group them with the game itself instead of throwing them into a misc category, much easier to find them if you're looking.

Naomi - DC, STV - Saturn ports? Also, for example Radiant Silvergun story mode seems like the "full" game treasure developed, arcade mode is a derivative with less stages and route select to make it shorter.

BTW, didn't Akai Katana Shin get an arcade release? not an "arrange mode" anymore but no scores released in arcadia?

Yeah, let's not consider MAME and ports so we are left with scores from the dozen members of this forum who own PCBs and actively compete. Ridiculous. Unless there's some real, documented difference that can make scoring easier, there's no reason to ban any of them.
