This is the most amazing achievement I've heard of in a while.

How do you get 5,000,000 in this, anyway?

probably no miss no bombing both loops and then getting those however many frames of precision is required to chain perfect the entire run.

Which isn't really worth it.

Such a horrible scoring system.

Well definitely. 2-all on any of their games is a great thing, so congrats. I just don't care for their games in general, so I don't play them.

Holy shit, congrats! I can hardly imagine how much pain it must have been to go through this 2nd loop... a well deserved and nearly unbelievable achievement. Sick score, too.

Absolutely outstanding. It's a pity about the .inp, but great job anyways.

How many months did this take anyways?

Let me think... you get about 2m from general survival (killing things and collecting 4k powerups), 1.2m from ending with max lives/bombs, 700k worth of max bomb collection bonuses in the second loop, a potential 1m from coin chaining, including the endgame bonus (Godhand fell a little short from this in his run due to that one dropped chain), 350k or so from gemheads, 300ish(?) from milking both versions of the stage 7 boss, and a bunch of other assorted scoring tricks that only people competing for the WR care about (powerdown milking ). But yeah, as you can see this game is very much NMNB the whole game or bust, even for a Psikyo game.

Well looking back, my first score submission on this board was Nov. 7, 2009 (527,000 lol). So yeah, a little over two years, though I took some really long breaks throughout.

RNGmaster - 800,300 - 1-6 - Valpiro - MAME

Scrub score. Tried to speedkill the stage 6 boss second form since I've never gotten there before and don't know any routes for it. This... ended poorly. Could easily make it to 1-7 but setting up savestates will drain all of the fun out of this game.

Valpiro's close-range attack is seriously godlike. Too bad you can't dodge shit while it's active - need to plan things in advance.

chum - 1,112,100 - 2-1 - Valpiro - mame

I'll be working on the loop at some point for sure

All these runs were livestreamed

chum - 1,308,900 - 2-2 - Tavia - mame

I hate 2-2! It's just madness to me, need practice. Practicing 2-1 paid off, I still died right before the boss though. Improvement will be tough from here on out but my next goal is to claim 3rd place

Azinth, NTSC-J, you guys are lunatics

Been playing this recently again after many years it seems. I feel better at it now but it still kicks my ass, my goal is to break 600k at this point...so many games going horribly wrong on stage 5.

japtor - 588,300 - 1-5 - Marion - PCB

Edit: just got a 21 chain!

Coin Chain - 40

I noticed something on the coin chain scoreboard. I think Landshark should be above AMI, unless there's some reason he's ranked lower with a higher chain.

Image

Zil - 1,448,000 - 2-3 - Marion - MAME

Unsuprisingly, my Tavia tactics didn't work very well with Marion. However, she did make the first few stages a bit easier with her homing. (That 40 coin chain was in fact from a Marion run.)

Image

Zil - 1,628,100 - 2-5 - Tavia - MAME

Inadvertently entered the name as ZZZ thanks to the turbo button. This run had a miserable death in 1-7, 9 bombs down the drain. No miss and only one bomb used until 2-4. Then disaster ensued. 2-5 is fairly easy, but 2-4 and 2-6 are giving me nightmares.

Image

Zil - 1,405,700 - 2-2 - Alucard - MAME

Man, Alucard's weak as hell.

Used maybe 4 or 5 bombs. The rest were lost. Then I really surprised myself in 2-6, going in with only one bomb and still getting past the midboss. I haven't even planned a path through the part after that yet, so of course I died there. I've practiced the boss though, so I know that shouldn't be too hard. Haven't looked at 2-7 yet, but I guess it's time to finish off the rest of the planning, grind the fuck out of everything, and start saving .inp files.

Azinth - 3,087,600 - ALL - Tavia - MAME

I'm happy that I finally got a new score, but this run was kind of a disaster from 2-5 onwards. :P Lots of deaths and bombs that could have easily been avoided if I'd been more careful. I'm going to keep working on it, and hopefully I'll beat this score soon.

Awesome score Azinth! Hopefully I can reach 3mil someday.

I kinda took a hiatus to dick around in Perfect Cherry Blossom. Which was pointless. Back in the saddle now. Still died with 9 bombs. Need more practice.

Do you guys have a strategy for stage 5 and 6 bosses (both loops)? In particular I am talking about the rhythmic tap patterns for stage 5 boss (2nd form) and the stage 6 boss in general.

Also, the bullet barrage (the bullet-hell one) for stage 6 boss (in 1st form) seems difficult in first loop, but ridiculous in second loop (based on the videos). Is there any specific positioning for it that is more effective?

I assume you're referring to the second form's opener? That attack is completely fixed. Start directly below the boss, and tap to the left twice, each time waiting until it looks like a bullet is about to hit you. With savestates you should get the timing down for the taps pretty quickly, and it doesn't change much with rank.

And that attack is entirely aimed. Just sit still until it fires the entire pattern and a nice gap will open up a bit to the side.

Freed from the clutches of PoFV, I have returned once again. Perhaps I can recover my abilities and finally grab the 2-ALL. Motivation is ever fleeting.

Bleh. Infinite stupidity. Forget the 2-ALL I guess. Let's risk 8 bombs doing something we've practiced for maybe 3 minutes a few months ago.
