Please use these settings:
Code:
3 SHIPS/1 PLAY
DIFFICULTY: NORMAL
SPECIAL STAGE: ON

RFA players, please use Arcade difficulty. Well, I'd open a board for another difficulty, but it's getting a bit silly as is.
--------------------
Please post scores in this format:
Code:
VERSION - MODE - SHIP TYPE
NAME - SCORE - STAGE - SHIP - AUTOFIRE - PLATFORM

SHIP TYPE is whether you used a regular ship or a Slave, SHIP is for the actual ship used.

Please indicate which MAME build and program version you used, MAME players.
--------------------
0. PCB/MAME users, see here first.
1. To use a Slave, insert credit and then hold B while pressing Start, then select the ship of the Slave you want to use.
2. To use the Dark Sword, insert credit and then hold A while pressing Start, then select the "?".
3. Combine both to get the Dark Sword's slave.

Note that all region releases of Raiden Fighters Aces contain the Japanese version of each game.

I'm afraid to open a board for Special Stage at this point in time, but if you have something go ahead and post it.

Fun game, might try and improve this sometime. Dark Sword (ship or slave) is the only way to play. 8)

Fairy is the slave ship of the Miclus, so sik's score should go in the Slave ship list.

Played Raiden Fighters 2 today since the tropical storm Pedring's attack.

Special Mode is more of a Boss Rush mode. I watched SFKhoa's Boss Rush video, and I see most of quick-killing strategies there, only that I learned to avoid his mistakes from that run. Just got sloppy on 2nd loop, including cheap-tastic attacks which puts me down.

Here are my scores:

Asia Board - SLAVE - Special
tinotormed - 23,218,410 - ALL - (Fairy) - NO - MAME
http://twitpic.com/6s6vu1

Finally, a 2-ALL! Thank you God for making this happen to me, after all the struggle, the stupidity, a lot of practice, and effective strategies to take down each boss, this 2-loop Boss Rush is finally beaten! I might come back to this game again someday and try some other stuff. It's starting to like me in this one! The replay will be on YT later on. If not today, it will be tomorrow.

EDIT: New score for Normal Asia.

Asia Board - SLAVE - Normal
tinotormed - 90,724,410 - 2-3 - (Hell Diver) - NO - MAME
http://twitpic.com/6sjrjo

Made it past 2-1 and 2-2. Stupidly got caught in the train cars' suicide bullet crossfire in 2-3.

Raiden Fighters 2 Boss Rush 2 loops is up on YT:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnAkZZHraIc

Video is c/o SFKhoa's strategies, except with no stupid deaths on loop 1.

Setting the ultimate upset for the US board today. The run is recorded, but sound is broken beginning at stage 1-6 but the video works fine. Uploading on YT both the US and Asia plays by tomorrow.

Are xbox360 scores accepted?

edit: nvm, I found the answer.

I assume that, on the port, I would set the difficulty to "arcade". However, there are also 60hz, 57hv(blend), and57hz(true) framerate settings. I guessed 57hz(true), but figured I should check.

Working on something respectable scorewise.

Dunpeal2064 - 42,362,230 - 6 - Fairy - 360

Finally got a good run. Quite happy with this, but there are still a lot if hidden locations and grazing to take advantage of.

I'm glad I stuck wuth this, its a ton of fun

My US Version 1st loop clear video should help you know where the Micluses and Fairies are. I somehow missed a few or two in the run. Oh, and each Miclus location requires you to hover on it for 2 seconds. As this is the US Version, it dosen't apply here.

I should mention that both my scores had autofire enabled.

I am not good at keyboard mashing. :(

I personally like Chaser 2000's slave the best. It has a good bomb, and it's not too fast but not too slow, so I can graze, but not feel like it's impossible to get from one side of the screen to the other.

Working on a new score to supplant my old STGT 34mil, in the meantime, I think this post should be linked - the "hold B and press start" method never worked for me (but this one does and leaves things much simpler).

I'm still working the miclus/fairies into my credits. You can tell when I die in Stage 3 sitting there like a doofus waiting to bomb the three cannon pairs. The only thing in stage 4 that wasn't total improv was the miclus at the very start. I bombed through the whole boss because I'm not very familiar with the beach stage yet and he scares me. :)

Hmmm, if my memory serves me right, it is completely impossible to bomb in all 4 cannons in stage to get a Fairy because that requires a specific weapon ability to destroy them at the same time. (The Raiden Mk. II really does the job) Regarding Stage 4 boss, it's important to bomb him the moment he begins to attack and destroying both of it's side parts before it does. There are medium-sized gaps on the boss' 1st attack btw when he fires the 3-way attack on both sides. Do not attack at for a while and when he goes for the 2nd phase, start bombing again.

Sorry, fixed. I don't know why I didn't bother putting a MODE slot... Please mark that's a Special score.

US Version?(It says tuning license on MAME, so I don't know what category it would fall under.)- Special Stage - Standard Ship - Emo Fox Jet Pilot - 3,950,780 - 1-7 (Red Eye) - Raiden MK-II - Yes - MAME Plus 0.145.3.0

Am I seriously the only one who prefers to use the Raiden MK-II?
