Having *huge* issues trying to get on to the second run collecting all the bees. Do you just have to pass the laser over to reveal or have your ship make contact? One thread talks about 'the front part of your laser' which is a bit ambiguous...

Updated and tidied. If you could try to keep it in the proper formatting that would be really helpful. :o

@Sub - is your score for Arcade mode?

I was interested to see which ship types yielded the highest scoring, bit surprised by the C-strong performance, kind of makes the other ship types a bit pointless unless you just want increased challenge.

The 'front of the laser' is a pretty good description. When the laser isn't going off the top of the screen, the front is the most toward the top of the screen.
You either have to fire the laser over the bee after not firing or using the regular shot (so that when the laser moves up the screen the front part of it goes over the bee) or destroy something that stops the laser in front of one (so when it moves up after destroying the enemy it moves up over the bee).

I was very surprised that my score made it to the top, especially considering Strong is just the survival type. I think if more people made it through the second loop with Bomb or Power, I would get knocked down the list pretty fast.

Grrrr.

Icarus - C/Power - Arcade - 13,274,823,032 - 1-ALL

Image

Didn't get to the loop, and still failing at the midpoint of st5 with the last set of laser discs. Think I have a good scoring routine for the game now.
Full chain st1 to 3, broken and scattered chains in 4 and 5. Aiming for about 20bil.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Icarus - C/Power - Arcade - 24,555,524,021 - 2-1

A good st1-1, st1-2 and st1-4, mediocre st1-3, and monumental fail in st1-5 - lost all lives in places starting from the beginning of the laser discs.
Got to the loop, fail right near the beginning of 2-1.
Aiming for 30bil.

Sorry for the slow update, all sorted now. I had someone in the scoreboard with three separate scores, doh!

Please let me know if I've forgotten anyone.

Well done Icarus, incredible score! that's gotta be an Ipad right? :)

And same to flux on that 2-all, that must have been some buzz.

iPhone 4. You can score almost as much as the AC version, and have the advantage of faster movement to boot.
Working on my st3 chaining route as I often need to Hyper to maintain chain at the moment, but otherwise I can score 30bil with little issue. Stage 4 is a nice little goldmine. ;)

Holy shit, I 2-ALL'ed something. O_O
Tsuujou loop, no lives, one bomb left. Was actually aiming for Ura loop, but three bombs and a stupid death stopped that from happening.
Not close to my previous score, though.

Mission Accomplished.
Got to Ura 2nd in Arcade Mode, made it all the way to the giant bee mech in one credit, but couldn't quite finish the job.
Continued once, finished off Hibachi, unlocked it in iPhone Mode. :D
Pretty mental flying around as the TLB, spraying bullets everywhere.

Target achieved, but not without incident.

Icarus - C/Power - Arcade - 37,944,222,801 - 2-2 BOSS (Ura)

Image

Comfortable 1-1 (2.3bil, 3.5k HIT). Somewhat competent 1-2 (4bil, 9k+ HIT). Finally, a decent 1-3 (10bil, 4.5k HIT). A decent 1-4 (12bil, 4.5k HIT, though made a mess of the beginning and autobombed trying to boost the hit counter on the first laser tank). Sub-standard 1-5, 2-1 and 2-2.
In practice, I can get around 30bil 9K HIT from 1-4, and 30bil 20k HIT from 1-5 up to the end of the laser discs, just before the second secret boss, but have yet to get it down in a single run. Need to improve on 1-2 and 1-3 as well. I'd ideally like to go for about 90-100bil if I can improve on loop scoring, too, but for now, 50bil is a reasonable target.

Icarus = Superhuman Shmupper

Updating now. :)

@Dronevil: nice score. I'm only taking your highest score per mode at the moment rather than multiples on one table, but well done for achieving the top spot.

I wrote the two scores because i really don't know if the hibachi scores should be in the general board.. Whatever you decide would be ok :)

I was wondering that, too. Although, playing as Hibachi didn't really give much of an advantage to me.

Maybe a little off topic, but has anyone else had trouble with the game crashing at the end of the second loop? I was trying to take the #1 spot back and it crashed 3 for 3 times after the Colonel talks to you after the 2-5 boss (making it 4 or 5 times total for me). It's getting frustrating to play for 45 minutes then lose your score.

I don`t know... since in the openfeint leaderboards there is a specific board for hibachi scores, maybe my hibachi score shouldn't go with the rest of scores. Feel free to change it.
I didn't feel much advantage either, playing as hibachi

I HAD trouble with the game crashing at that point! At least 2 or 3 times. Really really frustrating. Since then I always close all the running apps before playing DDP, and the crashing is gone. Not sure if that was the problem, but worked for me so far.

Stage 5 full-chained in Arcade practice mode. C/Power, 106bil, 24k HIT.
http://twitpic.com/3cg9ka
I can probably manage 120bil with a few tweaks, as I needed to Hyper in a few spots to bridge the chain route on this run, particularly in the areas just before and just after the second Ura midboss.
Combining current stage bests into one run, I'd be looking at about 150bil as an upper limit for the iOS version, with the AC/X360 version having substantially higher scoring potential on similar chaining routes (200-250bil?). Time to get to it!

100bil GET!

Icarus - C/Power - Arcade - 109,583,011,973 - 2-2 BOSS (Ura)

Image

Good 1-1 and 1-2 (total 7.5bil), chained 1-3 up to the 1UP and lost it, and had a horrendous 1-4, chainbreaking twice with 3k and also dying at the midpoint. Excellent 1-5, getting 19.6k HIT through both Ura midbosses, but chainbreaking at the large cannon before the end - would have managed maybe another 15bil from the rush at the end. Really need to do something about the second loop. 150bil in sight, a decent run through the game required, perhaps to 2-3 Ura or beyond.

I don't get how you can bother to play for score on this thing.
Makes Icarus' score twice as impressive :)
