Stage 2-2 is a load of crap.
Losing your last life to a stray bullet that you weren't paying attention to is also a load of crap.

Finally got myself a Wii since this game got released in Europe afterall.

I'm surprised that the game didn't max out on 3rd or even 4th loop, but seemed to get harder every loop. I'm going to assume that loop 10 is max, just like Gradius IV and V. I'll probably attempt a 15 loop run sometime, after I get more practice.

How do you do these runs. Do you actually sit there for the play? Or do you pause it to take breaks or go eat or step away for a while? I've never played Gradius Rebirth but I remember Gradius V having somewhere along the lines of 60+ minutes per loop. 15 loops would be brutal.

ReBirth should only take like 20-25 minutes; it's only 5 stages for one loop, and 3 loops to clear.

Generally, if I need to take a break, I wait for the beginning of a new stage, or wait for an area where nothing is happening.

Yeah, this is one of the shortest Gradius games ever so it didn't take very long. A few hours probably, but I still had a couple breaks. Gradius V was an entirely different story as 15 loops took 4 days not playing in one sitting.

V is pretty epic, but could stand to have a shorter loop. And less BS in stage 7 like shooting gears to block otherwise-impassable laser jets, however clever that is.

Gaiden is just right at ~30-40 minutes.

This game was much easier than I initially thought. Apparently the game added 1 suicide bullet per every regular enemy destroyed after every loop, so even loop 25 wasn't maxed out. The game didn't get any harder however, as the extra suicide bullets just seemed to stuff themselves between the existing bullets instead of spreading out. Kinda hard to explain.

Not anymore. :D I got myself the US and Japanese versions too and now I'm trying to get all highscores on each version. Already done on Very easy and Easy difficulties, mostly because they are 1st loop only, so they didn't take that much time.

My main concern is the Japanese Normal score of 57,300,000. I'm not sure if this score is just hacked or if I'll even bother with this one, but it is surpassable. It just could take like over a week playing a few hours a day or something, without power cut of course. Gotta see about that.

Updated, but that's not an 8 letter name, DJ Incompetent, so I gave you one for now. Also, 3 more scores and we'll have 10 for this board!

Nah, I just wanted a nice looking number and that was the closest thing after 24 loops. I already got all the US highscores so I won't bother making a 10+ million record on that version, it just takes too much time. There are still the Japanese highscores to take.
