Your first boss looks... exactly like mine. Maybe it's those longer taps?

Anyway, on Vinogradov I destroy both ends of the ship and the four large cannons on each end as well. The rest of him isn't worth it, other than his final bit of life.

New NOVICE score.
SFKhoa - 363,683,790 - B - ALL

I have never had to lean so far in on the DS to make out my position on screen before playing this. The game stops being fun for me after Very Hard.

Never going to fucking clear Extra mode. It will always remain my "Solar Striker when I'm in the mood for something harder than Solar Striker". i.e. that portable shmup that I know I'll never beat but it's just so goddamn fun to see how far I can get every time.

Doom Mode

CStarFlare - 305,775,650 - A - Stage 4

As far as I'm concerned, Doom Mode is good enough for a game of its own.

Shalashaska seems to think so too since he's on the Doom board twice :3

screw Hard A, You can keep it MMM. I'll attempt to take over some other difficulty. It was entertaining though, our scores started in the 300mils and jumped all the way up to 500mil

I've been spending some time with very hard now, really impressive how you can get 2-3bil from it, NTSC-J, MMM, and Nash87.

Very hard
DMC - 1,652,248,365 - A - ALL

...and damn I like this game! It's obviously a great teaser for the original ketsui, but I can see myself playing this one for a long time.

Very Hard
nash87-2,967,340,775-B-All

2 deaths, 2 auto bombs (i auto bombed on evacaneer, everything else on doom) I auto bombed and then died on dooms opening pattern from being nervous, then almost no missed the rest

i used my multiplier on blackdraft (intentionally) it dropped only 4,000 chips from being at 36,000 chips. at the start of evacaneer my chip count was 48,203, i'm curious to know what yours is MMM, if you don't mind sharing and waiting 10min for your replay to play

I think i can beat your score MMM, but doom always screws me so hard. I can one miss doom, but i'll always screw up from simply getting nervous that i'm going to screw up in the first place :x

another note, i had over 10,000 5chips at the end

On my current record run I had a 49,774 multiplier. I didn't use lock shot to finish Black Draft either. From my simple math it looks like that should get you at least another 50 million points.

Anyway, I played around in practice mode a bit and came up with new strategies for each boss, and on a good run I should have about 61,000 going in to Evaccaneer (without finishing Black Draft with the lock shot).

I did a couple runs and my best one had a death on Trafalgar, a death and an autobomb on Doom and I accidentally destroyed a part of Sphinx with the lock shot, and still came out with 3.34 billion points. Just shy of my best.

 i guess i'll have to try and steal death label next. i'm definitely not going to bother with extra since you've got the highest score in the god damn world on that, and extra doom is the hardest cock ever

I can occasionally reach doom without dying but i still can't come anywhere near destroying his first form. it's so infuriating being tricked to move into a solid wall of bright green bullets

I'm still not understanding the logic behind only having 2 lives instead of 3 in this mode.

Anyone know what the difference in scoring is between killing a boss with regular shot, or the boss timing out? When I milk bosses for 5-chips I frequently get it down to a sliver of health and then it times out JUST before I can kill it, but my score seems fine

It shouldn't really make much difference. The only chips you're missing are the ones from the bullets you would cancel from the kill. You only get a couple hundred points for killing a boss with the normal shot.

If you destroy a boss with the lock shot you multiply that very small point value of the boss by your multiplier, but you will also lose 10% of your multiplier. That's why it's beneficial to use the normal shot and save your multiplier, or in your case, time the boss out as long as you get lots of chips in the process.

Most of your points come from the bonus after you beat a boss, which is (lives remaining x 500 + bombs remaining x 50) x Multiplier.
