Thanks mate. I owe that in part to watching yourself and Keade show me how it's done an London Meet VI.

Also I finally played it enough to feel in control of level 4, rather than just winging it on the back foot!

Where are Skykid's new scores?

Sorry for the delay. Updating as we speak. As for Skykids' scores- the last one I have here in the thread is the 6 mil- is there another I missed somewhere?

Don't think so. Me and Skykid just have had a friendly rivallry over Progear scores, and he hasn't posted one for a little while.

I've actually just increased my score, but so incrementally I won't post it unless I don't get something better in the next few weeks...

It's been a while, but I finally climbed a little higher!

OTA (spadgy) - 11,075,940 - 1-5 - Bolt/Rivet

Lost my first life on about the third wave of level 1 too! Also got some way into the final boss...

No updates for a while? Sorry to chase BattleSmurf, as you're doing a brilliant job - I'm just eager to see my 11 mill on the board!

moozooh — 6,660,050 — 1-5 — Bolt — Rivet.

Made it to stage 5, died in the beginning due to inexperience. Played on the JP version.

Stage 4 is badass. Thankfully, Rivet makes the stages considerably easy, I actually find them harder than boss fights otherwise. The first loop's pretty easy if you're just playing for survival, without aiming to hoard lots of bullets under your nose to try canceling them at the last second. At least it's the first Cave game I played that let me one-credit to the final stage of the first loop within less than five total hours of play.

EDIT 3: Ignore this post. New score posted in new post below!

Slight improvement. US version as normal!

OTA (spadgy) - 11,170,440 - 1-5 - Bolt/Rivet

EDIT (July 9th). Small increase...

OTA (spadgy) - 11,538,330 - 1-5 - Bolt/Rivet

Second pattern of the last boss, and my first experience of the rank jumping up when you get a forth life in reserve on level four!

It's the first Cave game where I have died 4/5 of the time within the first two stages, with less than 5 total hours of play. Then again, I always get sniped by things that should not snipe me right when I'm about to snag another 300K.

Maybe I should try again, go for 7 mil. Or at least make it to stage 5.

The beautiful thing about Progear is that, once you get hold of the basis of scoring, it makes for an extremely easy extend rotation, letting you survive for a very long time even if you die or bomb more often than in other Cave games. The way I'm playing now I aim to get the first extend during Hakugei or early stage 3, the second during Kraken or stage 5 midboss. If I'll be able to get the third, it will be a guaranteed 1-ALL, though it might be that only two are enough if I make a coherent run or get extremely lucky at Volvox.

Exactly. Of course, you've got to be agressive about it. A little like ESP Ra.De, now that I think about it.

I always try for mid-stage 3 to get that extend. Sometime it comes up right before the boss, which is great.

YESSS! I got the 1CC! I beat this bastard game, about an hour ago, down at Casino Arcade, London! My first cave 1CC, and I had a life left in stock too!

US Version
OTA (spadgy) - 12,671,740 - ALL - Bolt/Rivet

And I did it the day I left my camera phone at home. Still, another regular took a pic, so if I can find him again I can get the pic onto my phone.

I'm so happy!

Well I thought my 12.5M yesterday at the mini-meet was my top score for a while, instead today I managed 13,663,220 on my jap board. Woo, I think having real people as competition makes it all the more worthwhile. Still no 1cc love for tyranid though :(

Argh! One shmupmeet, and I go two or three places down the board, and I get to see it happen in person! Well done Taylor, Tyranid and bloody MulletGeezer with a cool 20 million on the US board!

I did at least get that pic of my 1CC from last week at the meet though!

About time I cleared this game!

JP version:
Ruldra - 13,598,850 - 1-ALL - Bolt/Nail

Goddamn, this one took me months...1-ALLs shouldn't be this tough.

I've decided to stick with Progear and hit the 2nd loop. The requirements are harsh but as I have ~7 lives in total I should hit it if I just refuse to bomb - and to that end I’ve removed the button from my keyboard! I messed up all the milking spots this run, most of the pointage is from the periods I had a decent gem count with x2... That adds a cubic crapload.

Yes it does. 10000/20000+ random gems/rings are always welcome. Was this an ALL clear or did you just get to the final stage?
