Grrr. If it weren't for two stupid deaths in the corridor just before the walker, I would have probably gotten to stage 4's cell wall.

Hello every one, I am new here and I am trying to get better at shooters. Here are my scores for Gradius V.

Ayanami - 1,562,160 - 1-6 - Type 2
Ayanami - 1,533,160 - 1-6 - Type 4

I still need more practice.

I want to 1cc this game so bad.

I'll throw in my chips to this little comp. What difficulty setting are you on, is weapon edit frowned upon, I use the type 1 set-up but my missiles are the two-way type. What does "1cc" stand for? and what does the first number in the stage were you made it represent? Does it stand for the first loop through. How many continue's am I allowed? What if I continue and get a higher score in the next levels before I might continue again?

The farthest I've made it on one life was Stage 5 boss and that was tough. It's not so much Stage 5 or the boss, it's freakin' Stage 4. Stage 4 boss isn't all that tough either? I'm better at Stage 6 than that bullshit!!!

Forget the setting, play your game in the SCORE ATTACK mode.

Heed these words, for they hold true for every high-score thread in our beloved forums.

Like MSZ recommended, best is to play on Score Attack. You'll get a password for your score and can enter that on the official Internet Rankings on Konami's site. You can still submit your scores there.

Same as the european ranking page. I tried to kill the Big Core's at the end of 2-3 and miserably failed

I need serious loop 2 practise, I've yet to complete it with any type. Let alone I haven't been playing for a few months now, though I think I'll start again

Highlights:

- First death was at stage 4.
- On my way to the boss rush of stage 6, I slammed into a mini-core, and while I was destroying Zubs for powerup capsules, I forgot about my options and lost them. I started off against Rolling Core with just 2 options.
- I game over'd at Big Core mk3, because I didn't pay attention to where the bouncing lasers were travelling, and one of them hit me.

Words of advice:
- Believe in yourself! How can you get past a certain section of the game if you can't put your mind to it?
- Don't give up! Don't let a death or losing options faze you!
- Sometimes, if you have your powerup bar on the FF slot, and you are low on FF, just deplete your current FF and get a new one. Otherwise you may get into the middle of a bullet storm and not have enough reacting time to activate the new one.

hmmh, heres a crappy score: 428950 type 2 1-3

my first try on score attack, i think i gotta train on very easy and well atleast get weapon edit, i like score attacks difficulty...

ive gotten almost to the level 6 boss on very easy.. well i just got a new continue so should be doable.

This is from awhile ago. I've been meaning to have 1 or two runs through this game sometime soon. I played it a few days ago and I had forgotten how awesome it was. I really want to 1CC it on Very Hard, but I doubt that'll be possible for awhile.

I also want to see if I can get through the game with some retarded edit like flame shooter and the ugly shield made of balls.

Those Ben shinobi no options videos on the superplay site are amazing. If anyone hasn't seen them yet, they're worth downloading

Oh stupid me...

i ''accidentally'' played too good on my usual settings ( normal, 5 ships , 200000-300000 ship getting score )

and got 1077130 1-5

but hey atleast im getting alot better!
i think i should put my settings to the defaults... or play score attack.

W00t! a new high score for me, i switched my settings to defaults and got this:

type 2 1,126,390 1-5

damn, i never died before the middle of level 5 and after that i started hitting walls and well generally sucking

ah, i even got a better score that the one i got on much easier settings... I find level 4 very easy nowadays, you just need some memorisation ( the snake things, yes... )

lol i pretty much suck at every shmup other than this and im getting better at this slowly but surely.

btw, what weapons do you use on weapon edit? i prefer type 2 but if something on weapon edit is better...

Geez man, I just got this game the other day and it is simply gorgeous. However, my score is only about 400k right now at the spider boss as I am Gradially retarded. I don't know if I'll be 1CCing this, as even after only a few games it already takes 15-20 minutes to do a game and that's just exhausting. But still, I think this is one of the best Gradii I have seen.

asteroid boss keeps taking my two lives.... lost my last life when i messed up on the pushing blocks on 1-7 to block the lasers, i pushed one of them in the wrong order and it hit the dead end on the top causing me to have no choice but to eat the laser.
