hardly worth updating, but i got a new score

Image

i'm playing shooters again :o shoulda been a lot higher. gleaned 4 hypers and 15 mill off the stage 4 boss, going into st5 with 215 mill. had a 1000+ hit chain going, chained through the 1st midboss and into the beehive, was all going well .. then got that fucking green font on my chain. ie "you *nearly* chained it right, but we wont allow it"

looking forward to some new blood when the 360 version comes out :)

Updated. The home version is helping me a bit, especially with chaining stage 2. Still, very much not satisfied with this score and will keep playing.

Sorry jpj, should've read the format first.

adversity1 - 142,986,620 - A-E - 5-1 - ??? Hit

Not sure about the hit. After you input your score, the damn score screen appears only briefly so I decided to take a pic before it transitioned. Probably somewhere around 1200 tho.

And thanks. The cave-stg contest awhile back for Black Label is what got me interested in this game, and it's still one of my favorites.

nah no worries dude. and the 5-1 should be written as 1-5 :) i'm lazy and i like to copy and paste

glad you're enjoying the game, it's actually one of my favourites, if not my absolute fav. 142 mill is a nice score as well mate. keep going! (where's my thumbs icon when i need it?)

Sup y'all!

Image

adversity1 - 167,061,890 - A-E - 2-2 - 1025 Hit

Finally got into the second loop today. In the first loop, got the chain on stage 1 and partially stage 2. Stage 3 and 4 were weak though. That stage _should_read 2-3 since I was just about to kill the second boss on 2-2 in his last form. I realized I had a bomb remaining and was like 'oh shit I have a bomb!' and in that split second I ate shit. A little frustrating!

But still, I found the second loop to be really fun. I expected to die on the first boss but followed Plasmo's advice and just attacked him from the right. Got an extend and was doing pretty well.

I really love this game and I wanted to score over 200 mil, so I'll probably pick it up again at some point, but I have to say I'm pretty pleased with this result. May move on to some of the other stuff I've been experimenting with (Mushi Futari Maniac, Ketsui).

are you talking about the 1-2 mid-boss? you would have at least another 40 mil or so then...sick.

hoho played this @ a meet in France this week end (stunfest in Rennes). It's definitely the better version, no need to go crazy about hyper gauge levels. I was lucky to play this well with only 1 try, especially since I had to play with a stick ! I only fucked up the stage 5 chain.

Stunfest was great, we had 5 or 6 cabs dedicated to STGs, one of them hooked to a video projector (the Futari one). We were between 10 and 15 "real" shmuppers on site so it was a neat meet at the same time. The fighting stuff was neat as well but I only watched a couple of matches because I'm not into fighters that much.

This time they even organized a little prize reception thing at the end of the event for the STGs tournaments, so we got to stand on a small stage before a mini crowd of 40 people taking pictures of the STG tournaments winners, that was cool ^^

@ PROMETHEUS:
Congratulations on the nice first run. How many reserves did you have remaining when you entered the second round?

I totally wish I had this game. I liked it a lot the few times I played it.

EDIT:
started playing doj bl yesterday with the target to beat my old score.
after 4 runs with 230-240 mill i got a little bit stressed out.
now i entered st. 5 with 200 mill and 3 hypers.
there was it a 1400 hit chain and a bee on the screen.
greed made me catch that bee with and instand suicide.
maybe the stupidest thing i done at doj but hey it's a new score.

thx adversity1! :)
i'm trying to get this damn st5 chain at a full run this time.
thought it would be easier to chain it at bl because of the more hyper you get but that also max out the rank pretty fast.
not really more easy at all. :?

i know lowest score progress ever at black label but made it to 2-3.
totaly forgot about the bonus life you get if you no miss a stage at the 2nd loop and nearly wasted it without playing.

Is that what you get it for? I thought it was that you got an extra life at the extend thresholds. No wonder I survived til the end of 2-2.

I was under the impression that you only got extra lives per level on white label, which jacks all your lives when you hit the loop?

edit: I'm pretty sure this is the case as I just skimmed through one of ISO's black label runs and he stays at 5 lives until the second 1up cannon, and then stays at 6 lives until Hibachi.

since i rarely beat a stage of the 2nd loop with a no miss i'm not 100% sure if i'm right here.
i think you only get this bonus life every stage if you entered the loop with no remaining lifes left.

is it worth for rank control to never collect the maximum bomb bonus?
at st. 2 when the bomb item appear don't collect it and wait for the boss.
bomb it and then collect the bomb item.
maybe that way rank get's a bit lower. :?:

also nice way to kill st 3 boss.
get there with as many hyper items as you can and no miss till his finall pattern.
now wait till you destroyed that 2 boxes he shoots at you.
once they done he start shooting tiny blue bullets and now you activate hyper and point blank him.
he dies so fast that you will get to stage 4 with nearly full hyperbar left.
if you do this with 5 hypers your chain will be at +600 once hyperbar is empty.

This is a wonderful little game. The hitbox makes much more sense to me than white label.
I hope this submission is acceptable. It was done on the Xbox 360's DOJ BLEX.

I did not.
There's an option in the game to record a replay, but I couldn't get it to work in certain conditions. Either it's a bug in the game, or I just don't have enough memory (which I think is unlikely, since I have over 200 megabytes free). The game also doesn't give me any sort of message that could possibly explain the situation when the replay can't be saved so I suspect it's a bug.
