You're probably right, mate. I can't say I'll start to devote myself in earnest, though - I always spread myself too thinly over 6 or 7 games at a time. University starts next week, though, so maybe that will help me whittle things down. :P

RFP - 1 713 860 - ABDH - AUTO

Funny that on Saturn no save file is created.

I think there's an option for that in the options menu?

Nope, unfortunately.

I was going for a high score today and somehow my turbo controller mistook me holding the A button for me holding A, B, C, Start.

Damocles - 5,160,310 - ABDHLQV - PS2

Decided to pop this in for a quick run-through since I just picked up Taito Legends 2. Better than my old score, but nothing to write home about.

RFP - 3 335 800 - ABDGLQV - AUTO (SAT) [no clear]

Didn't begin to get my ass handed to me until end of Q but even with the extends I still couldn't do much with my first time on V. The worst part here is I only move up one spot and I'm the only person participating on this board to reach V and not clear, haha.

Hey, still didn't break 11 million but made an improvement :)

Smraedis - 10,901,290 - ABDGLQV (ALL) - Autofire used
No Miss, No Bomb, 3 Captains

The run was recorded so it'll be youtube'd in a week, if I don't improve on this.

Great going Smraedis, congratulations! I hope to make an all capture run myself one day, getting everything right on one run isn't easy though.

Thanks zinger, yeah it is very annoying that you do everything right, but a captain just gives up just before you can capture it... I think I'll be able to do 5/6 captures some day (missing the one where you have to battle with the rocks at the same time)

And you do have a really great score on this game too, it has to be said.

I've updated my atspace page now ;) I haven't played that many shmups this year, now I do feel like going back to some of them.

Thanks everyone! my aim was to reach 11 million, I did it, and also got the top score here too, I'm happy enough :D

Here is most of the video, for some reason I can't get the stage 6 part to upload at all.. it just says 'Failed' and nothing else. I've tried recording the input again, and uploading that, and I still get the Failed message for that stage..

Also, my score hasn't been updated on the table yet :D

edit - got the 6th stage to work now, lowering the contrast did it (somehow..)

Vorpal - 7,041,650 - ACFINSY (ALL) - Autofire enabled (Mame)

After I figured out how to do autofire (Thanks Damocles), getting an ALL was no sweat. Dunno if I like this game enough to try to max out scoring though, the first 15 minutes of play are intensely boring...

I love this game, so I'm trying to improve my score, but until then, I'll just put up my STGT score for now (some other people in this thread also have higher scores from the tourney, FWIW).

Enhasa - 10,237,440 - ACEHLQV (ALL) - Yes

So autofire is some option you have to enable in MAME? If that's the case, I played with full Saturn defaults meaning that my score has no autofire. So, I suppose you could mark my score on the list as "autofire = no".

Sheesh. Cheaters using the damn autofire.

Just kiding, sort've.

I don't remember the code off the top of my head, but you can enable it on the Saturn version as well. ("Rapid fire" would probably be a better term, since the game has automatic fire, er, automatically. It's just dismally slow.)
