As I said, I think it give you extra points for getting everything, I forget exactly how much though. In any case, every little bit helps. ;)

Yeah, milking bosses in Vasara consists of reflecting back as many bullets as you can. Careful since some of them have very fast and devastating spreads they will spring on you, if you milk too long.

Javel - 1,063,610 - 6 - 146 - Saika

I really have to learn how to score better in stage 2. I get a measly 10,000 + 15,000 pts in the spots where I use my Vasara-attack. Stage 4 being a huge problem still, my game ends there or at the final boss.

Taking a break from Air Gallet.

Vasara 2, Easy:

Javel - 4,094,880 - 4 - 85 - Sandayu

I think I like the first game much better.

For Vasara
RFP - 244 520 - 2 - 32 - Saika

I could be wrong on the stages but I'm quite confident it was 2 where I died.

Here's a screenshot to clear anything up.

Score added (you do want to be put in as "RFP" instead of "Limbrooke," right?). Good to see some new people playing these games. :)

For Vasara

RFP - 374 530 - 3 - 60 - Saika

I am really digging this game and I think the music is not bad either, at least Stage 1 for Saika is a great tune.
Even if it didn't win the STGT Hidden Gem, I'm glad I can still play.

Vasara

Ed Oscuro - 316,950 - 2 - 47 - Sanada

Only made it to the second boss. Almost beat him. Just this morning I could only manage 227,670.

What's that second number mean, anyway? Mine seems to be lower than everybody else's.

Welcome to the thread, Ed. :)

As for the "second number" you mention, if it's the "47" in your score that you refer to, those are your "prestige kills," basically the total of how many flag-carrying guys (as well as bosses and midbosses, basically anything that leaves a bloody scrap of paper with kanji on it after it dies) that you've killed, you get extra points at the end of each stage depending on how many you managed to knock off.

Welcome to the thread. :) The "prestige kills" are very simple really, I think my previous post explains pretty much everything there is to them.

Congratulations BBH, methinks you may well indeed be the first fella on the forum to conquer Vasara! :) (If anyone else has, they never submitted it here, heh heh). Excellent work, I hope to watch that replay soon.

Now get to work on Vasara 2, you slacker! ;)

Stylish game, I'll try to spare it some more time.

Anyone see a resemblance to Gunbird in Yuan-Nang mode? :)

And the Vasara table increases to 20 entries, welcome to the thread guys! :)

The game does resemble Psikyo in several ways, though I personally enjoy it a good deal more than most any Psikyo game.

I really do need to make a proper ST thread for these games one of these days...I started typing up a bit of info someplace awhile ago, but got sidetracked. Maybe over the summer...

As for your score, you might want to focus on, aside from the prestige kills, nailing as many enemies in one melee attack as you can, and perhaps milking enemy bullets as well (I personally don't bother with the latter, as I'm mainly trying to clear it before doing anything too fancy/dull).

I'm playing this when I'm not playing the game for the final week of Nemo's tournament.

I really like this game. Not so much Vasara2. Still pretty good, and appears more polished, but I prefer the first game.

Vasara 2, however, continues to mock us...

Vasara

freddiebamboo - 714,170 - 5 - 115 - Saika

Been playing this a bit recently and quite enjoying it.

Hopefully I'll improve on this soon if I can stop losing umpteen lives to the stage 4 mid boss every credit...

Out of interest, does anyone know about the infinite score bug for vasara that AIVA has listed?

Offhand I'm not sure...do bosses not time out, maybe? I've never milked them long enough to find out, but that's one guess on my part...

I haven't really bothered to try the boss time out thing, because milking is boring :P

However, some bosses do time out. It might depend on whether they are in their final form though. I've only noticed 2 or 3 bosses time out during their final form, never the first. But then, I don't tend to hang around the first forms long since there isn't much to milk there.

The 2 final bosses do not time out at all as far as I can tell.
