Hot damn, MrMonkeyMan you are an amazing player, I applaud you.
I was able to make some minor improvements to my score as well, most of you guys are completely in another league though, good shit.

What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.

4,496,080 points on stage 1 :)
Sigh, too bad the rest of that run was balls. Got the worst pattern on the stage 2 and 3 midbosses (cost me like a million points), 3 deaths, only 58.6 million :(
I've got all the makings for a 64 million run, just gotta pull it off.

If someone could explain to me exactly how to do everything perfectly, then maybe.
There's just so many points I'm missing because I don't have perfect timing and placement. It's kind of hard to figure out exactly when I need to switch to Kakusei mode, where to be on the screen to make the enemies start firing sooner and keep their bullets on the screen and not trap myself behind a wall of bullets.
I can hit pretty much all the same enemies they get in the DVD videos, but my scores are always around a million behind on each stage.
I would like to see a 50+ million Tateha score on the board, just so you know *wink wink*
And good luck with DonPachi. I don't think I've ever even made it to stage 5 on a single credit in that one.

IIRC, the Kakusei system has some weird nuances that need to be followed.
Certain enemies/turrets will only fire in one of (at least) eight directions in Kakusei, and only ever at the general location of your character. Making sure you are placed correctly is important in order to generate bullets to cancel is very important. (Sometimes those flying blimps with the two turrets in stage1 will only fire from one turret if you are placed incorrectly.)
Also, the timing of your activation of Kakusei is important too. Think of Kakusei as a timewarp, where everything on screen moves slower, and enemies go though their attack patterns at a faster rate. If you activate Kakusei at the end of an enemy's pattern, it takes an extra moment before it fires it's next salvo. Activating Kakusei right before, or during an enemy's pattern will force the enemy to generate more bullets after it's fired it's first wave. Some enemies have multiple patterns, and this will work on only one of those patterns. (Try it on anything big, like those turrets in stage1, or the large flying things at the start of stage4 to see what I mean).
With both of these in mind, it makes it doubly important not only to time your Kakusei activation carefully, but also where you are on screen when you activate it. It's a really weird system to play with, and I still haven't mastered it yet.
One other thing. You should be killing enemies when your Kakusei Gem count is almost depleted, about 5 Gems at least. Killing enemies when you have 20 or 30 is a big waste, and those Gems could be used to generate more bullets. If you watch the replay DVD, you'll see that both players wait until the very last second before killing an enemy.
...must be because there is less bullets in the first loop than other Cave games...

I'll go for it, if the game doesn't drive me crazy beforehand -_-;;MrMonkeyMan wrote:I would like to see a 50+ million Tateha score on the board, just so you know *wink wink*
Thanks ^_^ I'm having fun with Donpachi. Strangely I feel more confident in it than any other Cave game besides Ibara...MrMonkeyMan wrote:And good luck with DonPachi. I don't think I've ever even made it to stage 5 on a single credit in that one.

MrMonkeyMan - 60,822,960 - ALL - Ageha
Most dissapointing run ever.
I had all 6 lives going in to the 2nd last form of the final boss, only to take a stupid hit, but it did not matter, I was still going to get that 62 million points! Too bad I took one more careless death just before finishing off the final patter.
Oh, why did I have to get hit during the 3rd stage midboss?!
Yeah, once I get that top spot back I don't think I'll ever want to play this game again. My poor heart can't take much more of this.

I dunno. I probably play on average an hour every day of the week? Plus lots of hours on the weekends (eight maybe)? I probably only put in around 5 this weekend. Anyway, 10-15 hours a week I guess. I suppose if I just played a full run every time that would be like 20-30 runs a week or something.
Well, that was my 2nd full run today. Who knows if I'll play tomorrow, might decide to do something else that day. I'm always too heartbroken after screwing up on a run like that to jump right back in.
If someone beats my score after all this then they can have it. They've obviously put a lot of work and effort into the game if they're getting over 60 million points as well and they'll definitely deserve it.

Heh, I saw you had the latest post in the topic and immediately thought you had gotten a new score and I would have to try double hard to get the top spot. Phew..
Thanks. You're still number one though.
Oh, and if anyone wants, I threw my 60.8 million run up on yousendit since superplays.co.uk is down for now. First come first served I guess. Watch as I blow one of my best runs ever!
