"Effort Week" STGT score:

Image

RNG - 45,812,240 - ALL - Ageha - Shmupmame 2.2

1-miss. Two huge scoring mistakes on Seseri and Jakou-Galuda which robbed me of at least 4 mil. Hoping to upload the replay to YT soon.

STGT score. I kinda want to come back and actually put real time into this game at some point, since despite being overall much easier and the scoring being less deep, I still like it better than the sequel in some ways.

BareknuckleRoo - 36,471,170 - All - Tateha (4/6 Lives, 1/4 ish Bomb Stock) - MamePlus 0.146 r5028

Very pleased with this run even if it's only a 2 mil improvement. First time I can remember no missing up to 5-2, although I messed it up and died. The last few phases of the final boss went especially well; very pleased with how I handled his last set of attacks.

I still need help improving my stage scores, especially wish I knew what I was doing wrong on Stage 1. Also probably need to study videos to see how to properly score later, especially on 5-1 and 5-2.

Will probably stick to using the more score-oriented Ageha now and push for at least 40 mil, would be nice to improve to 50!

Not a fan of Tateha so I'll probably focus on trying to beat 40m with Ageha when coming back to the game.

Arrange
CSF - 338,212,878 - ALL - Black

My first few runs today were terrible, to the point if I wondered if I hadn't lost a lot of my skill over the past week (cut back on my playing a bit). Then one didn't go so bad, and I wound up getting through a couple of the 5-2 boss's attacks without any gems or barrier. Unfortunately, this means I didn't get to cancel the boss's massive curtain right before the last phase, but I wasn't about to suicide for gems.

Whatever. Espgaluda for sale - $60. :)

Considering she's the tougher one to score with, that's not too shabby! Seems like you're really close to the clear, bring it to the next meet so we can watch you 1cc it! :P

KMG - 28,831,270 - ALL - Ageha

I don't play Espgaluda very much for score, but when I saw moh beat my score at the last meet I felt I should at least give it a serious try so I threw in a credit and started blasting away.

moh if you don't bring galuda tomorrow I swear I will kick you in your sweaty nuts so hard

yes, I was too pissed to remember to enter my initials, fuck

I actually recorded this run and had several SHITTY deaths (stage 3 boss, stage 4 against the second giant ship after midboss) and both times I recovered by immediately maxing out my overmode again to ensure I got as many green gems as possible. I would have gotten 40 mil as I went into the final boss with 1000 counter, but all the times I tried to kakusei clear a wave I fucked up the timing and killing him just as it dropped into overmode. I'd actually be embarrassed to upload this, kinda. I also died during the very last wave stupidly, I coulda bombed I think, so yeah, I know I can get 40 mil even with an early death or two as long as I recover max overmode, and not fuck up the rest of the game...

Just barely 40 mil, but AWWW YEAH.

BKR - 40,018,960 - All - Tateha (3/6 Lives) - Shmupmame 4.2

I fucked the final boss up big time in terms of scoring, I coulda gotten higher if I hadn't died and kept my item counter up for cancelling. But it was a no miss up to the final boss, so I can't complain! Recorded it too, putting it on Youtube when it's finished processing.

My first "big boy" CAVE clear. :D

Doubtlessly, one of the easiest from CAVE's classical period, but still leaps and bounds more challenging than more modern titles like Death Smiles or DFK 1.5.

I dropped a quarter in this game for the first time more than three years ago, but it wasn't until the beginning of this year that I was able to ditch my limiting mindset and start making actual progress.

Today, after a rather relaxed run, I realized that the points of the game I was actually having trouble with were not that many. So I sat down and planned out a rough strategy for bomb and kakusei usage that would get me through the game.

It only took 1 try. I had never reached the final attack on one credit before, so my heart was racing like crazy. A moment before the boss was going down, on my last life, I mistakenly hit her with what remained of my Guard Barrier, healing her.
I though I was done for... time was moving so slowly... and after a few interminable moments, I managed to kill her.
My chest is still actually hurting a little hahaha.

This run pushed my current skill to the absolute limit. It's an amazing feeling. :)

I love this game!

Thank you Plasmo. :D

For now, I'd like to learn the fourth stage better. I often lose a life there, and the fourth boss still send me into panic on a good run.
Figuring out the circling "rain" pattern of Jakou's second to last form would also be pretty sweet. I've only dodged it a few times in the past.

Overall I'll just be trying to keep a relaxed mindset and see what I can do.

Mmmh, still not high enough to get on the high score board... oh well, here's my score anyway:

endoKarb - 32,719,230 - ALL - Ageha (2/5) - Shmupmame 4.2

Not much to say... better scoring all throughout the run. Finally managed to dodge Jakou's last pattern without dying. Cheers.

endoKarb - 33,186,460 - ALL - Ageha (1/6) - Shmupmame 4.2

Small improvement. Cleared with 6 boxes, but died twice on Jakou's attack needlessly.

A full week of practice for a measly 410.000 points.

Image

endoKarb - 43,256,580 - ALL - Ageha (3/6) - Shmupmame 4.2

There's really a huge wall around 40 million points. A perfect run would earn roughly 49 mil at this point, but it's not gonna happen anytime soon.

UPDATE:

Wasn't expecting this

Image

endoKarb - 44,908,790 - ALL - Ageha (5/6) - Shmupmame 4.2

First 5 lives clear... Rather clean run. One death to a sniper tank in level 4.
I didn't even know this game had sniper tanks.
Sadly the first part of the fight with Jakou was a complete mess.

UPDATE2:

Image

endoKarb - 47,321,670 - ALL - Ageha (5/6) - Shmupmame 4.2

I don't have to pretense to be able to no miss stage 4 consistently at this point. With that considered, this was almost a perfect run for my current skill level.
Wasting almost all of my Bomb Gauge on the second to last attack of Jakou was really painful, but I have not figured a consistent way to dodge it yet. Getting trapped in a corner and dying would have felt even worse.
Very exciting run, I don't think I'm going to be able to top that anytime soon.

Also, Tateha clear, just for kicks.

Welcome to the forums; your Twitch stream has been linked around here a few times. One thing I've noticed from watching is that you like to just tap your bomb. Especially against bosses, if you hold it down to charge for a while you'll do way more damage (and skip more of its attacks).

All you need is to finish with a couple more lives and you can get 40m easily!
Dimahoo is a fun game.

Oh yeah...I know I only tap the bomb, that's because I'm not used to have a bomb jauge. So my first reflex is always to tap and not to maintain it. But I tryed today, and you're probably right it's more powerful.
I just need to keep training !
