Giga Wing Generations
Ah, btw. what was your multiplier on that run? I'm botching play after pla, so far i'm doing though:
75+70+50+130-160(random, need to refine stage four)+160-190+etc=about 500M if i can pull a decent run, virtual maximum of 550M?
Just to get a good idea on score potential

1- 84m
2- 90m
3- 55m (~25sec on boss)
4- 120m (~55sec on boss, 93% dest., 1 bomb/3 used)
5- 160m (27sec on boss, 93% dest., 0-1 bomb/1 used)
6- 5m (36sec on boss, 0-1 bomb)
=515m
I usually get 130-40m on 4, but otherwise sound. You'll need to think about other factors than multiplier for score potential, though. That's why I put the stage bonus info.

Now i understand your score increase...I get no more than 70M on the second stage though, basically 10k before the canyon section and about 22k before the boss. Also, i think i'm botching the boss, sorry but can you recap again...reflect the 20 streams of blue circular bullets, then wait for the blue circular bullets from the centre, trigger the second form, reflect the first blue and slow bullets, then the blue streams, then the green pattern. Is this correct? Ah, also, do you just bomb out the fourth boss?55 seconds looks like you just do "reflect-bomb-reflect" on the second form...
Also, is it actually convenient? I suppose it is, as i can't really think of good (score-wise) patterns to reflect on said second form
Also, what do you sacrifice (reflection-wise) on the fifth boss? I suppose a lot, as 27 seconds is also much more than my usual time (about 10).
Rough idea: you take down the boss (first form) by the end of the main group of circular patterns (three reflections, i think), then you just bomb on the first pattern of the second form, going for the quick kill on other patterns, i suppose.
At any case, i think i can profit from quick kills for a good Hawk score: another interesting thing is that Robin seems to be much more advantaged on handling bosses, especially for damage handling...
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.
How about I take a small video of the second boss with my digital camera? On this stage I'm starting to finish around 29,000. On the second form of the 4th, you're right. After that I can just see precious seconds slipping away with little to gain. I think it works well.Randorama wrote: Now i understand your score increase...I get no more than 70M on the second stage though, basically 10k before the canyon section and about 22k before the boss. On the first form I end it when it shoots out the small green blasts. I'm not sure how much I lose, but I know I finish around 30,000 (I think). I know that whether or not you play for fast kills on this boss, it will still dish out many reflecting opportunities because it's pretty resilient. Starting at about 22,000, 5,000+ on the first form and then maybe another 3,000? I do miss the best reflect opportunity on the second form - the large red and blue circles of bullets towards the end. Also, what do you sacrifice (reflection-wise) on the fifth boss? I suppose a lot, as 27 seconds is also much more than my usual time (about 10).

Of course there's also medal values to consider. They are worth a ton on that boss (hundreds of kei). I have no idea what difference it would make during the boss to draw it out a little bit, or to do as I do. But, if all there is to gain is 30-ish million on the multiplier, and 17 seconds are lost that's 193.8kei vs. 113.4kei in bonus (510m vs. 540m). Bonus on 6 would be about 214.2kei vs. 226.8kei. Lose 80kei, gain 12kei. It has to be a big difference to matter (like 100m+). It would take a bit of experimenting to discover the ideal time.

Ah, lovely, much appreciated aka yes thansk
About the bosses: the fourth one can be taken down at roughly 48 seconds by skipping the last form of the final attack, when it stops shooting the blue needles. On the second form, if you do reflect-bomb-reflect on the spiralling attack, you can get about 1,5k-2k of medals easily, so the quick kill is doable. The fifth boss...well, the only decent attack on the second form is the very last one, of course. But well, taking it out quickly with shot medals could slow down the multiplier bonus, and reflecting the other smaller attacks may make up for the missing last one. would you like to do the math?

I promised you a good Hawk score and here it is!Also, it's easily improvable...Now, i also need to nail a good score on Robin. I may insist more on Hawk though, it's been a while since i've gone the way of the spread shot
EDIT: ah, score for stage 4:

Video for 2nd boss isn't working out so well, so I'll just list the reflects:
#1. Reflect a bit early and squeeze in a few hundred extra on the first batch of green bullets from the center.
#2. About 4 seconds later (if timed perfectly, enough for a recharge) come the blue circles from the sides amidst green bullets.
#3. Second batch.
#4. Blue bullets from the center (circular + aimed). Turns over.
#5. Reflect on a wing.
#6. Reflect blue lines.
#7. Green bullets from center.
Still need to work on what and when to shoot.

Ok, need to improve the stage though...
but:
Stage 4. 1237,3333,4561,12777650 - Randorama - Robin -Original PS2
Stage 5. 1191,3452,4553,34889990 - Randorama - Robin - Original PS2
I did 25k+5k on the boss, a 47 (or 48) secs kill is apparently the right time (with the reflect-bomb-reflect tactique on second form). On the fifth boss... i still have to do the math, but the last attacks seem to compensate for the 10 seconds or so that you lose by waiting for them. In this particular case, i did a spectacular 21k+11k on said stage. Shame i keep fucking up complete Robin runs...
Will post soon a Grouse score btw (...doubt you give a fuck, though )

You're killing me at 4&5, Randorama. I fear for my Robin score!
On stage 4, do you recall how much of the points came from the stage and how much from bonus? You have a few seconds under on the boss, but you still surpassed my score by a decent amount, so I'm wondering if the extra medals make a difference at the end (999m multiplier I imagine)? Perfect destruction rate? I think I only got to 999m just before the bonus popped up (as it continues rolling).

Finally able to post...
Randorama - 1638,3444,12001030 - Robin - All (Original PS2)
I was ready to throw away the play until stage 4, then resurrected on stage 5 and landed a 201M multiplier score on said stage alone. Destruction rate 93%, 14 seconds remaining, would have obtained about 210M by completing the reflect on last pattern, i think. I think i have all the reflects on stage 4, but pulling them off is not an easy task. Beside that, i'm close to a good Grouse score though

You're missing a few numbers on the Robin score, so I just left the last four blank. Correct?
Hadn't played for two weeks, just started again today but nothing new. I really need to improve a few stages before trying another "near perfect" run. My stage 3 is so disgustingly bad. I hope I can get another 30m off of it. Just noticed 2 larger enemies I hadn't triggered before.

Practiced 4 for awhile. That game was 25,500+4,500, 94%, 50 seconds.

Run was slightly inferior for the final bonus (93% - 47 secs), but the 32,512 multiplier was amazing
The worst part is that at least in a couple of points i did something which was way better than the standard approach (before the second mid-boss, from the mid-boss to the boss), and the boss was +5,100...I think it's near the maximum, more or less. Alas, i am really clueless on what i exactly did to improve those section ( in terms of +1k each, given the standard...like getting a couple of extra reflects or so).
Still a lot of things to do: also, i suspect that there's some trick to squeeze about 6k on the boss, need to check.
Chomsky, Buckminster Fuller, Yunus and Glass would have played Battle Garegga, for sure.
Crap, that middle section is my main weakness on that stage. I just can't figure it out and I know I'm blowing a few thousand medals here and there (but mostly there). 6kei.Randorama wrote:The worst part is that at least in a couple of points i did something which was way better than the standard approach (before the second mid-boss, from the mid-boss to the boss),

I can't seem to complete a game these days, so I'll take it as a sign to keep improving the stages.
Congratulations!
What were the percentages for stages 4 and 5?
By the way, i'll be with you until i pull off a good complete run...this means that i probably won't beat your score, probably
More to post in the GD, if it's ok for you.

An interesting trick: third boss, the last floating island, with the central crystal. Destroy the upper right turret, then counter-clockwise the others ones, the crystal will start releasing +100 medals. The boost can be meaningful, multiplier-wise (+3k at least). I wonder if we're missing other secrets as well,it wouldn't surprise me.
