I believe the board just ate your last score, Randorama. I had it updated, but it isn't there, nor is the post. :?

Uhh. I'm starting to wonder whether it's just original that is the advantage (complete view + no shimmying bullets) or something else, because this seems high considering I died in the middle of stage 4 and the middle of the stage 5 boss.

According to click-stick's front page (I have no other source of info ;_; ) one of the world records is 1047,6621,6037,24645770. Not the same ship, but still. :?

Giga Wing Guru.

In Arcadia #60 in the hi-score section, there's a score of 1282 + 16 more digits with Grouse, from a player named "Dragon God TSP".

I am, aren't I. I love this series more than most hate it.

That looks to be about what my estimate would be if I don't make any major errors, like dying in the middle of stage 4. Which makes this game considerably more obvious and/or easy than the past few games where I can't see the ceiling.

4th playthrough. Trizeal was REALLY pissing me off so I popped this back in.

210,6681,9277,28606120 - Skyline - Robin - Stage 4 (Original-PS2)

-S.A. Stage 2-

Uhm

716,1232,5630,12786600 - Randorama - Robin - stage 6 - original PS2

Seriously, i *completely* fucked up on the medallion. Still, i think we're missing something, or maybe no one really squeezed the game, in the arcades. Also, i remember that the Hawk's record was consistently higher than the others?

EDIT

these should be the top scores for the game. Please don't get scared, it's 3232.1159.0008.87186380 for Robin, dot in the wrong place. Still, one third (roughly) of the top score, lot of room for improvements. As i have written in the GD, there must be a lot of room for multiplier improvement, i think.

That would definitely be a maxed out multiplier and I don't see how that's possible, as usual. That's the GW I know.

But those scores are confusing. I wonder what that Hawk score is about, since it really can't be that much lower than Robin's (like in the past GW games, even the "bad" ships have similarly high scores). Maybe the creator of the site got them mixed? A tag play score around that mark would be much more fathomable. A tag play score around 6.8 quintillion... nah, way too low. I think the tag record for GW2 was around 300-400 quadrillion, roughly four times single player records. That would explain some things, like the Eagle score on CS's site being listed as 10.4 quintillion. I can't imagine the Eagle being at that much of a disadvantage to Robin.

But if that Eagle score is a record, I definitely think you're right that the game hasn't been squeezed/isn't too popular.

966,5555,4533,45710240 - Randorama - Robin - ALL (original ps2)

made too many mistakes, like milking for medals the last boss...or an horrid perfomance on stages 1-3. Else, i'd be closer. The true challenge must start at 2k kei, i think

2000kei, that is a challenge. I think that would stretch my playing another month, but I could see it happening... For someone, probably not me!

1285,6663,5678,12300010 Randorama - Robin - All (original PS2)

Would have beaten your score without a few key mistakes, i think.

Just to give you an idea:

Multipliers:
1.67M
2.123M (fucked up last part of boss)
3.169M (meish stage)
4.299M (...and i used a bomb during the stage, one on the boss too, else it would have been about +160M, i think)
5. 418M (died at the very first attack at the beginning of the stage, and at the second form of the boss).
6. 430?M (more or less).

I can see about 550M on a 1-life no bombs play, maybe with a score of about 1,8k-2k kei. For the rest, i can't see anything else without a LOT of creativity and a better approach to last two stages. Rest goes to the GD...

Ah, i'm really getting addicted to the score attack mode, stage 4 is easily one of the best stages ever in a shmup

Feel free to submit the score attack score for 4, Randorama. I like 1, 2 and 5 the best. 3 is fun and I loathe 4.

I don't think 100m+ increase is going to give you as much extra points as you think it will (definitely not 600+kei). I'm aiming for nearly the same multiplier improvement, but my estimate is around 1600kei. Unless there's another piece of the puzzle here, I think near 2000 scores are for ~700m+ games (but you'd still have to be getting good time bonuses).

Really messed up level 5 bad, but sucked it up and finished it. Died after 6,000 medals. Awful, I would've had 1700+. A nice result anyways.

Good!

By the way, is still 3,2k kei the top score? If so, i think i'll insist until i get a 1-life no bombs (and about 500M multip.) clear. Ah, by the way, what's your best Hawk score? I got about 700 kei on Saturday, didn;'t bother to check as it would have been a double entry

On a certain internet site, maybe, for tag play. :P

I haven't finished a Hawk game, but I'll try that next time.

After one false start, a complete game and an improvement. That's a nice change of pace. Still died on 5, but at least I've got this game recorded so I can dissect a few things for the strategy section.

Randorama - 1404,2344,5534,34872220 - Robin (Original PS2)

Baby steps, as the overall play was sloppy (lost about...a total of 70M at least, here and there), but bombed just once. About 800kei with the Hawk, but i will only give you a 1cc score, sorry 8)

:D

Kind of blew level 4 a bit, used 3 bombs (agh). Missed about 5 seconds on the level 6 bonus. But other than that, 1 life and nice. Cleaner and I can see 2000kei!

Uhm, yeah, 2000kei is doable, maybe something around 2050? (three bombs, blown fourth stage...). I think i'll be with you until 1800 kei or thereabouts, just give me a couple f motnhs, given the recent pace

Planning to switch to other planes, btw?Else, i'll claim the Hawk record soon

Yeah, the bomb usage and time bonus cost me about 80+kei, so that's cutting really close to 2000. Too close, so I have to improve some basics.

Won't be playing any ships for anything other than messing around.

I just played this game for the first time today and I one-lifed my way to Stage 4 on my first playthrough (and the contrast sucks on my upscanner VGA box, I can barely see my ship and the bullets as fuzzy blobs).
I'll pay attention to my score next time but maybe I finally have something that I can 1CC!

I also SUCK at these Takumi games too, I think I made it to stage 3 of Mars Matrix ONCE, and not much better in Gigawing 2..

I find that the reflect shield recharges much faster in this game than either of the Gigawings or Mars Matrix (and I can more easily see and hear when it's recharged). But overall I like this game a lot!

I think the charge time is the same as it is in Giga Wing 2. I'll have to check that out. Don't forget to play for score. It's the only way!
