The nice thing about Hyuga's Shikigami, though, is once you stick it onto a target, you dont have to bother aiming anymore until that target explodes.
True, and I found this useful for some boss forms. But other times, it would take at least twice as long to clear a boss form, and I would likely lose a life before clearing it anyway. I have been using Hyuga's Type 2 shikigami, though, so perhaps this shikigami feature is more useful to Type 1 players.

And dont forget that the bubble that's right in front of him when using that, can also damage and kill things. In particular, it's also useful for stopping those destroyable red ball bullets.
I found this useful for stage 5-1 boss's final form, but that's about it. But I can see how this shikigami feature is useful to high scoring players.

Hyuga is easily my best character in this game because of that Shikigami of his.... might seem a tad strange, but it's so useful once you get the hang of it.
I like to think of it this way: not many people use Hyuga (I think!), so perhaps not all of the scoring opportunities have been fully realized with him. Because of this, it could be easier to get an
Arcadia record with Hyuga than with, say, the more popular Kuga.
Then again, the current record holder could be a genius who has perfected using Hyuga anyway. :)

Well, that's not counting Kuga.... I dont really use him myself, he's too easy....
You can make using him hard by going for higher scores!

One bad thing with Hyuga though:

but I wouldnt rely on it whatsoever for bosses. Just learn to dodge their patterns instead.
Yes, I agree. But it did push me to learn how to dodge the first attack of Stage 3-2 boss's final form (with the orange ball and purple needle spam), since Hyuga's bomb does very little damage. I've been bombing that attack with most of the other characters, but now I can apply what I've learned to the other characters. Hyuga's sucky bomb may have pushed me to learn how to dodge other attacks, too.

THE spot in the game where Hyuga seems to have the most issues is actually the 4th boss; her stupid wall cards (and cards in general) can really interfere with his Shikigami.
I really just hate her........
Yeah, I usually plan to use one bomb on her second form's winder attack (fast purple needles in a crisscrossing pattern with aimed purple needles) and one on her third form's fireball attack. And I usually die to the winder attack anyway, because it doesn't stop and I'm reluctant to use another bomb.
What's about as bad, though, is the boss in stage 4-1. For most of the other characters, I would push the walls out so I would have more space to dodge bullets. But it's tough to do that with Hyuga. I've never been able to latch onto the boss's balls with my own energy balls, so I can only use my shot. But I have to be rubbing against the walls to get all my shots on the boss's balls (otherwise, some of them hit the boss itself). And I have trouble keeping that up, so the walls cave in on me, and I have trouble dodging bullets from there.
