Played a lot yesterday and earlier today to try and improve my score, and every time I run into stage 4-2 boss, I die every single time on the same attack pattern. >:(

Fuck stage 4-2 boss, argh.

My first score post.

Martinov - 1,140,650,800 - Hyuga2 - 2220 - 3-2

I need to practice stage 3-2's bosses ... I rely too much on bombing them both, but Hyuga's bomb doesn't track them properly at times. I was mere fraction of a second away from killing them as well when I got sandwiched by what looked like an impossible bullet wave. Bah!

Are there any good super plays out there for the later stages in the game? Besides the double play-videos on SuperPlay!

I´ve been playing extreme cause I suck at normal mode.

Extreme:
Javel - 3,126,952,630 - Kuga 2 - 17390 - 4-2

I dont particulary like dodging the clusters of shots released by destroying the cards at the 3-1 boss. It gets easier from there on though.

I´m on the list twice btw.

Very slow improvement... messed up the milking part at the 2-2 boss so it should've been a little higher.

Normal:
Javel - 4,580,581,360 - Kuga2 - 26,682 - ALL

Pics, normal and extreme:

And for shit's and giggles:
Javel - 3,115,423,710 - Kim2 - 9,965 - ALL
Javel - 2,152,027,240 - Roger2 - 4,415 - ALL
Javel - 2,165,813,970 - Hyuga2 - 11,267 - 4-2

How is it possible to score this high with Kuga with that x8 rate? Seems like I'm missing out on some fundamental aspect of the scoring system. I'm not doubting the score - just curious.

If you no miss, the points given by coins are always high-everytime you got hit the coin value drops, you must rush it once again up to 10k. I think that this way, even if you don't do everything 8X you get high scores. I'm sure I missed the 5 billion goal for this reson, I died too many times.

Yeah, but I thought the value was reset for every new stage and it didn´t matter, point-wise, if I die right in the beginning of a stage. I must stop killing myself for bombs in the beginning of 1-1, 1-2 and 3-1 then....

Last update in a while. I need a break from this...

Normal:
Javel - 4,772,615,620 - Kuga2 - 28,169 - ALL

http://img526.imageshack.us/img526/1020 ... 771aa5.jpg
http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/2277 ... 772ps8.jpg

Ok, now I'm offically confused. No missed the whole game except for one silly death the the 5-1 boss and w a higher x8-rate than AST-POW but I end up with a score 150 millions lower! What am I missing out on here? :?

-All milkable bosses are milked.
-Non-milkable bosses are killed as soon as possible.
-Bombs used only on bosses (to kill them faster)

Strange, indeed.

But look one thing: the GOT ITEMS value in my pic and in yours: I got about 4k coins more than you, and IIRC (I haven't been playing for a loooong time) you take a huge bonus for collected coins after every single stage. Maybe that's the answer.
Also, I killed all the bosses x8. Not sure how many points each boss gives, but that's a difference between my run and yours as well. I'm just guessing.

BTW congrats for your great scores! ;)

That must be it then. I thought the got items were there mostly as reference to see how many coins you failed to collect w x8, but I guess collected with x6 or x7 (and w that end of stage bonus) those coins really add up to your final score.

Do you remember your score on 2-2? I suspect I'm way behind w the bossmilking on that stage. Current record is 740 mil - 4800 x8, the guy on the DVD finishes the stage with nearly 1100 mil and 7700 x8 :!:

That's it! The point about 2-2 is that I destroy the balls x8, but can't collect ALL of them x8. BTW, I can't remember exactly my score chapter by chapter (do you use practice mode a lot? I used it just for stages 3 and 5), but I remember my top rate in this stage for x8 actions was 5700 or something like that. I've always had problems in stage 3, in particular the box-boss section, but stage 2 was fine. :)

Keep trying!

x8 5700 is really good. The milking itself is not that hard but sometimes the boss switches to the first attack (with the single ball rotating around him) and that's when I loose out on some points. I haven't figured out why he does that but I guess it has something to do with shiki-placement?!

I've mainly been practising stages 1-1 (current best 525 mil) and 4-1 where I'm having trouble w the middle section (getting trapped by those purple shots)

Thanks for the encouragement, I´m gonna keep at it,but right now Im really fed up with the game.

I think that it switches back to the first attack when you fail to destroy a ball x8, but I can be wrong, never checked. I usually release the shiki according to a "sound" hint: before the boss throws the ball it says "kore wa dou da?", and when I hear "DOU" I release the shiki.

Now that I have back my stepdown converter I'll try a couple of runs on my Game Cube! :)

I havent played this game in a zillion years it seems (or 3 months), but as I need a new import disc, fired it up again today.

Bridget - 1430913460 - Hyuga1 - 5589 - 4-1

Boy was that a dumb run for me...... spots I died in are spots I shouldnt have.

And WHY is that 3-1 stage so AWFUL. Rest of the game isnt nearly as annoying.

Though the "tetris" boss there can be worth piles of points.

Ok, better score:

Bridget - 1,694,585,760 - Hyuga1 - 6557 - 4-1

Oh, that run COULD have been way better, but made an idiot of myself at the 4th midboss; tried to squeeze through a spot I couldnt fit in. This isnt Mushihime, dangit......

Ok, here's my new best score:

Bridget - 2,314,649,180 - Hyuga1 - 10747 - 4-2

Yeah, just a bit better than my last one, lol.....

Not that anyone seems to update half the threads in this section, though......

And that run COULD have been muuuuuuuuch better than that, but I did a pile of STUPID at the 4-2 boss....... boy do I hate her.

*edit*

Aha! It was updated!!

Excellent :)

I was going to wait until I hit a score plateau before posting to avoid spamming the thread with small incremental improvements, but as i've just plain old not played any console games for a while this score isn't going to be going anywhere for a while
