Konami Antiques: MSX Collection

Post by Zach Keene »

Shmup games only, obviously; brag about your omfgpwnz0r3d Ping Pong scores elsewhere. :D

Assume non-MSX versions of these games aren't score compatable (definately the case with Gradius, Super Cobra, and Salamander.)

All tables:

1. Zach Keene - 642,200 - 5 - SAT
2.

2. Zach Keene - 129,330 - 3 - SAT
3.

1. Zach Keene - 129,800 - 2 - SAT
2. elbarto - 96,700 - 2 - SAT
3.

Pippols
1. Andi - 422,390 - 9 - SAT
2.

Salamander
1.

Sky Jaguar
1. Shatterhand - 136,740 - 14 - SAT
2. Andi - 115,150 - 11? - SAT

Sky Jaguar
136740 Scene 14

Man , I used to play this better back at the old days.

Playing this now, after so many years, makes me remember why I like oldschool gameplay and big hitboxes so much.. :)

Oh, I was playing in the Saturn ,

Would you accept hi-scores from a genuine MSX? I'd prefer playing on a real MSX than the Saturn (Though Sky Jaguar is pretty identical in both anyway)

I'd love to join in too, but my Saturn is far away... my MSX emulators are right at hand though! If that counts, I'll see if I can can polish up my Knightmare skills again. :D

Genuine MSX scores are more than welcome, and I see no reason to disallow emulators since that's probably what the PSX/SAT versions are anyway. :)

I noticed that you don't have a score board for Pippols. Is there a reason in particular or did you just overlook it?

In any case, I'd like to request one. Here's a score to get things rolling.

Andi - 223,090 - Scene 5 - Saturn

Scene 5 is made of Moai heads. Oh Konami, those devils.

I'm working on a high score for Sky Jaguar to trump Shatterhand's. It will probably be a while though.

Hadn't ever got around to trying it, to be perfectly honest. I'll add it in a bit.

While I realize I haven't usurped Shatterhand yet, I consider this a pretty notable update.

Sky Jaguar

Andi - 115,150 - Scene 11 - Saturn

I'm guessing on the scene number, but it doesn't really seem that important.

Pippols

Andi - 422,390 - Scene 9 - Saturn

Labelling scenes in this game is kind of hard because sometimes if you make a wrong choice at the end of the level it will send you back a couple of levels. But, I completed 9 scenes, so...

You know, it may be a little too late to say that, but.

I think I remember the shortest route to finish Pippols.

For the "1st loop", if I remember correctly, you should go left, left, left and then right, and you are in the final stage. Good luck against those pesky moai heads though :D

I don't remember the order in your way back (or the "2nd loop" ), but if I play it again, I may remember :)

Gradius 2 (genuine MSX score)

AVE - 582,000 - 1-7

no picture unfortunately, I can't seem to find a ranking list in the MSX version and the score vanishes in seconds after you lost your credit :/

TwinBee

Mero - 1,596,100 - 2-4 - PS1

If anyone ever submits a score for this done on Saturn or genuine MSX then you may want to keep my score seperate since it was done on the Playstation version, though I've seen a video of MSX TwinBee running on the original hardware and I don't really see much difference.

Also, this score was done with manual fire. I wouldn't normally mention this, but if you try to use autofire via a peripheral on this you'll get one bullet every 1-2 seconds.
