TJB - 1,035,300 - 1-8 - Flying Pancake - MVS

I've been playing this game on and off throughout the year at a local arcade, been playing it exclusively at the arcade! So I'm lucky it's $1 = 2 credits, else I'd be broke. (Stage 5 & 6 had me stuck for a good few months...)

I'm aware of how easy it is to simply make up a score, so any further scores I post will include a photo as proof.

Updated and another new score from me. Getting closer to that extend.

TJB - Screenshots are welcome but I'm not going to hold you to gunpoint. I'd say to keep integrity high screenshots are the best way to go. Good score by the way.

For anyone who is interested:
I downloaded and converted those well done Strikers Plus replays off youtube. These are the ones where it has popular music playing in the background and it's only the bosses. In anycase, they're in Xvid and without that lousy bgm right here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=D6OE2PY5

My first 1CC, I don't know if I'll keep playing, I'm not very consistent in terms of survival and the second loop looks too frustrating, of all stages it had to give me the train one for 2-1!

Better to get that horrible train stage on loop 2-1 than on loop 2-4.

Does the difficulty on the loop actually differ between 2-1 and 2-4?

280,000 Pancake 1-3 mame

On options I set the difficulty to 4 and the region to "other" - the other option was USA. 3 lives. Hope that's ok.

This is my fourth score so hopefully will do better soon.

305,400 Pancake 1-3 Mame.

That previous score must have been a fluke. It's taken me ages to get a better score.

338,100 Spitfire 1-4 Mame

Slowly getting better. Can't make my mind up whether I prefer the Spitfire or the Pancake. I think the Spitfire has a marginally more powerful shot but the Pancake has a wider fire spread.

The Spitfire's fire and forget charge shot can take out mid-size enemies quickly, just drop it and go shoot something else. Once you know where and when to use it, it can eliminate threats quickly.

Plus on most bosses, if you can't dodge its patterns, just drop a bomb, and let loose a couple charge shots, and the boss will most likely be dead.

But for scoring the popcorn enemies the Pancake's lasers take out do add up.

I'm back playing for the past month straight after a 3 year hiatus. Finally got to 1-8 a few times. JP bios defaults on my MVS board.

Anyone know how to change the settings to 3 ships total with MVS? Is this even possible?

Cannot access the system menu? You need to enter SETTING UP THE SOFT DIP and then select Strikers Plus from the next screen. You'll be redirected to all the various settings such as number of ships.

Despatche - 521,100 - 1-5 - Flying Pancake - ShmupMAME v3.0b

Since this game is funny:

I played the Neo Geo game titled Strikers 1945 Plus, as opposed to the PSP game titled Strikers 1945 Plus Portable. I've heard there are various changes... does the original Strikers 1945 Plus have more than 2 loops?

I used what MAME called "Japan MVS (Ver. 3)", which has the following defaults: 3 lives, 600000 for extend, C button not used, and difficulty level 4. I set C button to rapid.

Arcade is 2 loops only. Also if you have a duplicate entry on the scoreboard I can remove it - PM to let me know. Updated.

As for the PSP game nobody has submitted any scores for it and I doubt many are forthcoming. We'll cross that bridge when we get there so until then...

ACD - 284,200 - 1-3 - Flying Pancake - MAME
ACD - 276,600 - 1-3 - Lightning - PSP

Both played with two lives. On the psp version you can't change any settings and on my MacMame I haven't figured out the dip switches jet.

If you can change your controls, see if there's a "Test Switch" button mapped and press whatever that is (it's F2 usually).

Speaking of which, someone should check if the Japanese PSP release has 3 lives.

Going for a 2-ALL. This was a pretty good score considering i died twice on the first loop. Uggh

Makes me wish I had try to improve on my stage 2-5 runs back in 2008.

A bit of improvement. This time I only died once during the first loop. I feel like I could have went all the way if I no-miss the first loop with full bomb stock, but it's much harder than one would think.

Been playing it off and on for the past couple of months or so. I'm determined to get the 2-ALL in all of the Strikers games.
