I've uploaded it here.

How do you watch the replays?

Copy the replay file to ttn/replays/last.rpl, then start up the game. The attract demo will be your replay.

In the middle of watching NTSC-J's replay and I notice he is using an attack I didn't know existed. How do you do the concentrated forward attack? That'd be quite useful.

Hold down both the shot and beam buttons at the same time.

Now just imagine what NTSC-J's score would have been had he actually used the provocation beam. :)

After viewing his replay, it doesn't look like you need to use the beam past stage 50 or so to chain since the bullet patterns are so dense. Around then you need to switch your prority to killing stuff quickly to stay alive and not get boxed out from to much fire. So my guess is maybe add another 50M if he used the beam at the start....but at the rate he was going, he could have made 50M just in the next wave alone.

Modern
MrMonkeyMan - 976,547,823 - Phase 139 - Replay

I'm disgusted that I did not break 1 billion. The 130's just weren't giving out the points like the previous phases.

Yeah, I guess I was going to play one more time.

Haha, that last post is great.

 Holy! I didn't watch it all yet, but doesn't look like Mr M. used the beam a lot past stage 60...

I'd really like to see this game rebalanced (or a new mode). It'd be more appealing if the mega-score-bonuses were only capable if you aggravated the enemy. Eg, you do not get bonuses for normal big-enemy bullets until ya piss them off and they flood the screen.

Otherwise there's just not much purpose to ever using the agro-beam as you'll start getting the scores in normal combat later.

Still fun though. But the games take WAY too long since you need to play for like 20-30 minutes to start getting to the real scoring opportunities (x999).

Basic mode is finally making a little sense, takes some memorizing though. I better go grab 0.2 now.

Hey shiftace, see what happens when good players take interest in these games? Turns out we suck :!:

This game is unbalanced. Like 75% of my points came from aggressive moves during post-death invincibility. Still fun though.

Titanion's scoring system is jacked up.

shoe-sama - Modern - 85,000,909 - uh forgot stage

v.2 I think

Just to make sure, the slowdown at higher stages (due to high bullet volume) is intentional right? >_>

Haha, yeah. Actually it's not so bad here. Once you figure out what to do, it looks like it only takes a tiny bit more skill/luck/persistence to get a huge gain. And, as everyone says, it's pretty near broken. Not to say that it's easy, it's just not difficult enough, evidently.

All I got: Modern/0.2 - 34,477,718 - 46

[taunt]I just wish one of these good players would take interest in Nomltest, I'm having some trouble getting 2 mil in standard mode myself.[/taunt]

Vast improvement over my old score. It seems to help to use the spread shot more often, seems to get better multiplier results.

I really love modern mode, the patterns the exploding bullets make can be very eye-candie-ish.
