I just gave it a run and got 13,058,270 - All clear

One can select hard mode by holding select and pressing 1,2,1,2,1,2,etc. during the title, and then exiting the mode select screen by holding run and then select. I'm guessing there is the possibility for more points there. Also, it is written that if you don't shoot the bosses on odd-numbered levels they will timeout and give you extra bombs, lives, and points. I tried it once but nothing happened (boss was still hanging around after several minutes).

the boss timeout works on just the first boss i think - it's not all that easy to do but it gives you some lives and 16 bombs IIRC. The game has other secrets - there's an 8(?) way weapon you can use just by picking up nothing but pink blobs on the first stage, and a 32 (again not sure on this, it's been many years) multiple mode which is cool. Also there are about 4 difficulty modes including the infamous God of Game mode, after hard mode is enabled just keep doing the select 1/2 thing and the title logo changes again, to a deep red.

I haven't been able to turn up these other secrets, and it seems like every cheats website I look at says something different.

I'm thinking the ultimate score must come from repeatedly dying and going back to a certain checkpoint to kill the same stuff over and over.

I love this game...
1599270 last level 2nd boss. I think the blue wavy lazer is the way to go for maximum screen coverage. It amazed me that they were actually drawing the lazers in rather small flashing segmments. No way to save scores on this one? (Wii version) :?
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

The game hail from 1989 - The Turbo Grafx 16 required either the CD-ROM or the Turbo Booster Plus to save in games and score was not something worth saving at the time.

Soldier Blade (late 1992) would allow for save scores.

OT I think I will submit a score for fun in short time :D
Blazing Lazers is pure awesome! Compile for ever :D

Dunno why, but I recorded my score for this before I sold the game. Think I got to the last stage (boss rush), still had a few lives in stock but suicided them as I couldn't be bothered with it. A great game in its day, but too long winded for me now. Anyway:

RGC - 3,102,080 - Final stage

Sonic R - 3,101,340 - Stage 9

I lost my gold ships and was check pointed. I am quit with 8 lives in reserve.

I am try for all clear my next post :)

I was so mad when I accidentally soft-reset at The End. I had no idea the only way to find out my score was to die.

Yeh, I was thinking the same actually. Typical, since I recently sold my Hucard copy (for about £5). It just goes to prove that hoarding collections is the way to go!

Your high score will save (as with all other games via save state) if you exit to the Wii Menu first. I have not tested if a hard shutdown (red light) erases the save states vs a soft shutdown (orange light). I always orange light shutdown and I've never had a problem.

Scores updated. Let me know if there are any errors. Also, what does "Final Stage" refer to? I.e. how many stages are there?

I downloaded this last night and had a lot of fun with it, but didn't improve my score yet. Practice and/or coffee will surely help with that. I also downloaded Alien Crush, one of my all-time favorites, and it seemed to me to be playing faster than ever. The increased difficulty was actually a bonus because my games can get so long.

Unfortunately the 10 million final boss bonus fails to increase my position in the rankings:

Congrats on the 1cc! When I saw your previous score I thought there was a '1' in front of it as in you having 13 mil

Great job :D

Thanks for the congrats, everyone.

I may have found an infinite scoring area. Do the eyeball generator "minibosses" in Area 4 ever time out or do something more threatening? Because with a fully powered IV you can park in the middle of the screen and watch wave after wave of eyeballs kamikaze themselves for 800 points a wave. On my last game I got at least 50000 points doing this before I got bored and moved on.

(Also I should only be 5th on the list.)

The eyeball trick was not used. Almost a one-life clear until one of those expanding trash wads right before the final boss got lucky. :(

Finally nailed the 1CC after playing this for 5 hours straight and dying a hundred times at the checkpoint with the little green ships in the last stage. :?

It's a nice game, but I don't want to play it again very soon.

Picked up Soldier Blade, Super Star Soldier, and Blazing Lazers on Wii VC a while back. Finally got around to 1CC'ing them all...
What more can I say I wouldn't be here today if the old school didn't pave the way.

I was on fire, until I lost a life in Stage 9, and fought the final boss, limp and desperate.
