Yep. It's only been about 48 hours since this XBox shmup came out, but I think it's time his oddball little shmup got itself a hi score thread. The needed info is as follows...

- Name
- Difficulty
- Score
- Stage reached

I may divide up the difficulties so that each has their own bracket if we get enough players, and should there be enough interest, I'll make a "Level Mode" board as well. There doesn't seem to be a menu to change your number of ships per credit, which makes things a bit simpler to deal with. So it looks like the only other thing that needs mentioning is that we'll be keeping it at the usual "No continues". So...

Code: Select all

Name | Difficulty | Score | Stage Reached
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) gameoverDude | Regular | 7,543,266 | Stage 6
2) Lys | Regular | 2,210,378 | Stage 3
3) The Coop | Regular | 1,578,397 | Stage 3
4) Malcolm | Regular | 1,533,149 | Stage 2
5) Savory | Regular | 1,218,346 | Stage 2
6) Al138 | Regular | 895,267 | Stage 2

Edit: Cleaned up the rules a bit.

Um, guys? I hate to be a pest, but there is no "normal" setting. There's Novice, Apprentice, Regular, Adept and Ace. Could you please let me know which setting "normal" was?

I'm really liking this so far - I wish the powerup icons were more distinctive, but it's a really stylish little game.

Looks like it might be time for me to practice Stage 3 in earnest. :D

Finally hooked my X-Box back up to a TV. ...after two weeks of having the game but no TV, I finally get to play...and realize this game is money well spent.

Anyone else feel like that kid from Iron Eagle who flies sorties while listening to rock? I had some Bad Religion for a soundtrack, and I had this slightly ethereal feeling that my pilot was doing the same.

That's a great fucking score! I've wondered though, at that pont in the game are you completely maxed out on mutation?
By the way, I have Hendrix for my playlist.

Mutation wise, I only had four lock-ons for each mode. This game seems to have a tendency of throwing the hardest crap at you within the first couple minutes of each level. Stage 3, on my first run, took three of my lives within the first few minutes until I realized that there were enemies that would directly kamikaze my ass. Stage 5, on the other hand, just seems to flood you with pipsqueaks then throws in a few larger organisms.

As for the score, well, gameoverDude has me beat by a wide margin. For now, at least.

An entire 2 1/2 hour run gets blown to hell just because the worm boss won't open its' mouth for more than 1/2 a second. That, and the fact that during that time it spits out a dozen or so drones. Not just any drones. No. Drones that suck your energy and don't allow you to detonate the nuke that will blow those assholes away and clear a shot. Yeah, I'm bitter.

In short, the boss timed out, blew up, and the shockwave took me with him.
