Wonderful ;)
The greatness of this feature for this game is that you're not going to 2-ALL it... With Galuda you can record your entire run, but the final bonuses (therefore your actual score) are not displayed :?

It looks to me that the dodonpachi series is something for Sunday's evenings.

I already 1CCed DoDonPachi at the last sunday of the autumn's holidays and now, I got this beautiful score on another sunday:

AVE - 153,303,470 - A-E - 1-5 - 2058

proof:
Image

Stage 1: 535 Hit; 21,8mio
Stage 2: 2058 Hit; 84mio
Stage 3: ~500 Hit + various 50-100 Hit Combos; 105mio after Boss
Stage 4: 300 Hit + various small Combos; 114 after Boss (only 800 Boss Hit :( )
Stage 5: 400 Hit, various small Combos AND: 600 Hit!; 153mio

Its been a miracle?! I hold my Stage 5 Combo from the mid-section (before the 2nd DDP Boss) including some beautiful dodges over 2 midbosses untill upper Stage 5!

My best run so far :)

CRI, you've got some impressive dodging skills. The paths you chose are different than I've seen or tried. You get in many situation that you need to use them, but I don't think you should have to. You know when you watch a master billiards player and they play position so they don't have to make hard shots? I think you could find a better path and decrease the risk of death a lot.

Been a near 2 months since I've played now, and I'm falling down the HS board, school and life...

had a 154.4 this morning that i might post later on. but i've yet to do the 1900+hit technique for stage 2 so i think i can prob take down triple lei quite soon :P also, i've only just realised that activating your hyper whilst on top of large enemies/bosses or surrounded by mini enemies massively increases your hit counter in it's first second or so.

it's not roy castle but it is a record breaker:

jpj - 174,499,970 - A-E - 1-5 - 1277 Hit

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/33/imag0007pv0.jpg

http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/8633/imag0008mm8.jpg

i've tried the 1900+ hit technique of stage 2 (ie saving your hypers till the last bit) and it's a lot easier than i thought. but this run was my usual (easier!) technique, but i nailed both halves of stage 3, and creamed the stage 4 boss for like 20 million

congrats CLA :D

scores updated.

EDIT: i probably wont be on the net over xmas, so sorry if there's a delay in updating scores. have a good xmas! :)

To those who can fully chain level 1. Can you do this 100% of the time or do you have to make a few runs to really get it?

I don't play it anymore, but I think I'd get it right about 40% of the time. After a while you learn what the risk areas of the level are for losing the chain and focus on getting the timing exact for those parts.

IIRC, just after the mid boss and after the second large tank were the most likely problem areas. The rest of the level ends up being done on autopilot as you play it over and over because you constantly arse up stage 2

stage 1 - 100% of the time. that's the best way to play DOJ, in my opinion. it's game that you play with rote memorisation (like say ikaruga, or silvergun). just try and learn a pattern or route through a level and keep practicing it until it clicks into place. remember that your score will go up exponentially with your chain. ie a 800 hit lv1 chain is say 25mill. however, if you make one mistake (so 400 chain; a gap; another 400 chain) you will only receive half - so about 12mill. workout which sections you have difficulty connecting, think about when and where you want to use your hypers to help you with this, and if you find a successful route just keep practicing it over. of course, the trick then is putting it altogether...

It's amazing that anyone can do this 100% of the time. About 1 in 25 tries I can make it past the midboss on a full combo, I usually pooch it right after the rotating cannon thing in the beginning.

Level 2 I usually pooch right as the big tank is coming out of the garage on the left side.

even if you only get 12m instead of 24, a good stage 2 combo is worth much more.
i would advise the opposite of jpj, practicing stage 1 in simulation mode or by restarting ever and over is very frustrating and you will want to throw the stick in disgust and give up after one too many broken chain.
play complete arcade mode games instead and if you spend time in practice mode do it on stages 3-5.
i can combo stage 1 99% of the time but it took me a LONG time.

DOJ isn't about getting the 1 in 10000 perfect game where everything clicks, it is about having a plan B for when the situation calls for it. theer are many scoring opportunities so don't sweat it if you don't get the max score on 1-1.

@landshark
with the technique you can see in my video that i post in this tread i can chain it 100% all the time.
i think it's a real easy way to chain the first level.
also a very easy way to play the first boss.

and thx @ venom for the feedback to the video.
i work on finding a better way to play the game.
the first step was collecting more hyper items.

EDIT:
got a little bit better score.
