 Tried and failed to clock Strikers1945 (2-8) using all 6 fighters in one session. could only reach 2-3 using P38, P51, Spitfire, Zero, and Shinden. died on the final 2-8 boss using 109. ill try again tomorrow if i get time.

:x got 1.8 million a few days ago (london trocadero), and as usual a crowd of people behind me watching in amazement. had to pull all the skill stops and use all my know how available to squeeze that score. still no where near the 2 million plus scores the japanese shumpers have set over a decade ago. JUST WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY DOING? the japanese version must be different to get that extra 500000 worth points.

Are you leaching off the extra power-up planes during boss fights (colliding with enemies to lower your power and force more power-up planes) ?

I've watched a 1,897,700 point replay where the player does this alot.

:o Only at the start of the 1st stage where i pick up the 1st power-up, shoot down a few enemy fighters then crash into one of the them to get the extra enemy fighters. after that, i pick up the power-ups as normal. the only other thing i do is to last-out the stage bosses by letting them repeat their entire attack waves 4 times max whilst waiting for extra enemy fighters to cpme out and destroy them for points (make the bosses last too long and they will self destruct). another thing i do on stage6 is after i destroy the 1st phase of the big rocket booster, i wait for those blue satellites to appear before i carefully destroy them without trying to inflict any damage to the rocket booster shell (the longer i can last it out, the more blue satellites i can shoot down for points). i get 1.1 million after destroying the final stage boss. Naturally, i cant work the same pattern at 2nd loop because of those enemy fighters releasing up to 3 extra bullets after being destroyed...just trigger gunbird-freight train again. :?

I just rewatched the replay, here are the scores at the end of the levels and some details.

P-51
1 - 126,300
2 - 266,300
3 - 388,300
4 - 567,700
5 - 720-something (bombed the entry of the boss I think)
6 - 836,400 rocket was not fully leeched
7 - 936,800 (alien+trenchcoat, little satellite boss)
8 - 1,111,200 - for some reason he let the 2 crabs in the beginning walk all the way to the top before destroying them (which gave 2 Ps).

1 - 1,218,000 (boss selfdestructed)
2 - 1,336,400 (did not kill all pieces of the boss)
3 - 1,436,100
4 - 1,528,200 (did not kill all pieces of the boss)
5 - ? - missed both missile barrages that result in Ps, did not kill the boss)
6 - 1,702,500 (no leeching)
7 - ? (did not kill the alien midboss, killed the trenchcoat
8 - 1,897,700 (Missed the right crab with the P in it)

He did get alot of 2k medals. However, I'm guessing he could have another 60-100k if he got perfect medals.

Easily another 100k or more in enemies that he let blow by him.

He did not get the gunbird train on the 2nd loop.

Do you get points for boss kills versus suicides? He didn't kill a few of the 2nd loop bosses.

He completed the game with 1 extra guy. That's an extra guy that could have been used to bomb the screen and kill extra enemies.

He used alot of bombs in the 2nd loop. Those extra 10k bonuses add up to around 100k (plus the bomb used in 1-5).

:o Hmm! interesting stuff there. well at the end of the 1st stage, i get 160,000, dont really monitor my score after that until i tackle the tricky stage5 mid-boss, then the blue satellites on stage6, then those orbs on stage8 after the mid-boss (the boss where i postion my fighter above it and it gives a bomb). been using Shinden and P38 alot over the past few days. Shinden because of the extra gameplay regulation from the cpu ie; harder, more enemy fighters, and certain bugs in the game where you can freeze the boss and stop it firing at you. and P38 because its the fighter with the highest recorded score ive seen to date at 2.4 million.

How do you freeze a boss to keep it from shooting at you?

The replay I saw was with the P51 and he used the charge shot *ALOT* to cancel out shots in the 2nd loop while shooting wussy-planes.

Very aggressively with Shinden only(what happens is the boss aggressively drops down 3quarters of the screen, freezes its position and just stops firing, but sometimes it does and your doomed) cant really explain with words plus its not a guaranteed cheat that works or indeed works in your favor. ill just have show it at the next london meet. no way im gonna type out instructions.

I'm unsure whether you are submitting this for the scoreboard, since it's not in standard form. What system are you using?

try and aim for 510,000 at the end of stage4 to challenge the japanese 2million plus highscores.

At this rate I don't think I'll be challenging anything soon.

I'll leave the record breaking challenge to you.

24-36months of play without the japanese info input ie; going through hell figuring it out by myself :?
