Just got Ketsui back from a friend. Fired it up to make sure it was working OK and got this.

ERM - 152,590,413 - 2-3 Omote - Tiger Schwert - PCB

Got into the second loop with 2 extra ships and 3 bombs.
Second stage was miracle dodging and bombspam galore.
Definitely need to practice the second loop by itself if i'm gonna get serious with this.

Still need to practice stage 5, but 4 is good enough. This was my first run with no bomb/no death till halfway through stage 4 where my patterns fell apart. 100 mil is the goal!

Edit: better score! Died at the 1-5 final boss.

Learned the remaining 2 stages fast, did not practice consistency much but wanted to try and record something before I leave travelling. And I think because drboom said one month, I sped it up lol. Still bits of hesitation or inaccuracy, relying on a bit of luck on some things for lack of practice, that's why I just settled with this for now even though I lost a whopping 4 lives in first loop!! (7th try, about 20h play time since I started learning scoring, had done about 20h of surviving around for fun in stage 5 in between DOJ practice before).

Usually with DDP/DOJ I would not learn that way, I would practice each stage a lot more before moving on to the next and make sure I'm really consistent before recording and also go for max score route from the get go, because of the scoring/chaining system, and it takes more time. Still gonna end up doing this next, practice details in each stage in first loop to get a better theoretical score (right now it's 197M after stage 5 boss) and hopefully some good URA consistency.

Anyway, I really like this game. And it feels good to play a different type of ship, very slow and wide shot, it's very different and feels like learning something new. Level design is pretty much top notch. Nice ennemies, great rythm, many different tricks throughout. Some quite hard, but you don't have to do them all or succeed and still get good points for the rest. And good atmosphere always important!
