I think the A-S is the most fun for me, I love how its so fast and the shot looks moist :D C-S I get the furthest with, and A-L I get the most points with(although I never get past stage 4 with it  ).

Let's let everybody see how shite AWJ is at Dodonpachi :D

Image

AWJ - 9,598,220 - B-L - 1-4 - 130

Not my best play, but I did manage to grab every one of the big stars from the stage 1 boss's rotating turrets for the first time. I would've broken 8 digits but I lost two lives (with bombs remaining, no less) to the 3rd boss... I've spent so long practicing chaining stage 1 that I forgot how to fight it

Am I the only Dodonpachi player in the Western world who uses the chopper?

Incidentally, there's apparently a bug in the game where if you play a one-player game on the 2P side, your star bonus doesn't reset between stages but only when you die--e.g. if you finish stages 1 and 2 without dying, at the end of stage 2 you get points again for the stars you got in stage 1 as well as for the stars in stage 2. Is exploiting this bug allowed, or shall we set a "1P side only" rule? (My score was obtained on the 1P side--note the color of the ship)

I used to use it and find it's a more enjoyable game with the B ship, but I score between 5 - 10 mil less than with the C type :?

I switch between A-L and B-L every few games to get some variety. Two out of the five high scores on my screenshot are B type.

Weird bug, but I personally wouldn't worry about it affecting score too much. The small stars are only worth 500 points, which is nothing compared to a few seconds with the maximum bomb bonus or a decent sized chain.

Vorpal - 30,111,160 - C-L - ALL (1st Loop) - 157

Not sure how to access the 2nd loop... I figured it would start automatically after I completed the last stage but... eh. Guess I'll find out how to access that later.

Anyhow, it feels nice being able to 1CC an arcade shooter for a change. This game is fairly simple so far, but has quite a nice "sub gameplay". Garegga has its rank management, this game has its chain-dance. Something I haven't bothered with as of yet ;p

Highest chain ever for me was I believe 253 on Area 5, and that is by accident really. Usually I am happy to see something past 60, as I just play for survival at this point... final boss ate 7 bombs heh heh heh heh.

I didn't add your score because you don't have a '0' at your last digit, which means you used no continues and used only ONE credit.

AB, can we set a rule to have people list what version they're using? I ask because my highest score in MAME is over twice my highest Saturn version score. The versions differ slightly in speed, and it really impacts the difficulty.

Can someone please remove Morden's high score from the DDP list. Isn't it obvious to people the guy used save-states and possibly CPU slowdown. Just take a look at the screenshot. There is no way in hell the guy gets 5 ALLs in a row with scores ranking up like that, all without restarting his computer or mame even once!! He is saving his state after each good level, and keeps trying to beat his last, this is the only explaination how he could be saving all his high scores.

His Esprade high score should also be removed.

I'm also surprised only 9 people on this board have ever 1LC'd DDP. I'm making steady progress and hope to get the in the next week or two.

if you're right he should also be banned imo, because that's bad for the credibilty of other scores. also i suppose many people 1CC the 1st loop, just with a shit score (like me)

I'm not making a statement one way or the other, but just because his scores are like that doesn't mean he cheated. He could be using hiscore.dat or saving a state after each game is complete. I'm using hiscore.dat on my computer and my DDP scores are saved just fine whenever I start the game.

I would like to believe you on this, but he only has 11 posts on the forum here, and someone with that much skill and time put into one game like DDP I'd think would be a little more into shmupping, or at least post scores for DDP DOJ ro ESPGaluda...but since no Mame emulation there then...

I agree, I'm saying that this score is fake since the old thread. The max hit value is too low. Low max hit + high score = no miss run, or something similar. Near impossible to do...
