It's best to max out your overmode at the Stage 1 boss as soon as Seseri enters her second phase. All the high-scoring runs I've seen do this as you've got good early stage opportunities to build up a ton of gold with the gems you start with, and Seseri's first phase has some dense attacks that can be kakusei killed for good chunk of gold. Her second phase is fairly easy to max out on too, and not worth much in terms of scoring potential, so it ends up being the best spot to max overmode.
