Ripple and Laser both work fine. You can even do it with the basic shot, you'll just probably have to option bomb to finish it off.

Died to one of the worm suicide bullets, derp. Major scoring improvement though thanks to getting 1-1, 1-4 and 2-1 100k bonuses. I suck so much at stage 6 still, the boss usually nails me with those green shots. :/

I've had a 2-1 boss suicide bullet come from straight behind me, giving me no time to move away from it.

The worst deaths I've had are in 1-6 where at the start of the level those yellow popcorn enemies swarm in on you. If one of 'em circles around off-screen it can actually pop back in on-screen. Same for the shootable missiles about halfway into the level. The 2-1 death was my fault; looking in the recording I see it came from a worm in front and I just didn't react fast enough to move out of the way in time.

I have the golden ship down now. It really seems to be as theorized here: Only kill the main part of the first two, then kill all three parts of the golden one, of course the main part being the last. Of course nailing the golden ship is an instant score improvement!

Problem with the golden ship is that I can access it easily with Twin Laser but I always seem to kill off the main body before I can get the targets. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be shooting at, either - can someone provide a screenshot with the parts circled or something?
The final boss is really totally a non-issue aside from the little things that shoot the purple bullets. Total bullet hell.

The red boxes are the fin and engine portions, blue area is the main body. Note that the engine part doesn't seem to flash visibly when it's hit, but it'll be obvious when it's destroyed. The fin takes very few hits to destroy.

Yeah, whenever I look for the fin it seems to have exploded already . So I guess it's just a matter of getting right into the engine. Thanks for the help bro!

So apparently I've been fucking up the final boss the whole time - making sure I've got a couple of speedups is enough to simply wide dodge at the bottom from corner to corner when he fires the green shots, lol. First time reaching the second loop with 3 extra lives, infuriatingly I lost one right before the stage 2 boss when I got distracted by something IRL and totally forgot that sitting at the bottom of the screen isn't safe... a wave of fire ate me from behind. Made up for it by dodging through the bosses shots and not getting hit at all at least.
Then I got my butt handed to me by 2-3 which is zomg hard, turrets fire super aggressively.

We usually have one, and a dynamic scoreboard, but dex seems to have been kidnapped by Russian spies... and not the hot type of Russian spies.
