I keep having good runs until stage 4, where I fuck up so hard that I only get through about half of stage 5.

That looping run I did was a bit of a fluke I guess. >_>

All scores updated (huge thanks to trap15 for making this easy-peasy!) and goddammit Zaarock.

I really don't want to learn type A, but type C is just so balls-hard in the loop. =/

Try type-B? you can do some spread shot when you want to, and it moves faster than C.

Yeah, don't use Type C. If you ever want to try survival in this game, Type C is going to hit a very large wall (that it needs to bomb through).

I have no idea what you're talking about unless this happens in 2-3 or beyond (and good luck doing NMNB 2-3 with any of the ships).

Type C is pretty unambiguously the best for survival in stage 1-4. You can certainly do it with other ships, but Type C makes it easiest. Meanwhile, the speed of the other ships makes them better for a good chunk of the loop.

The ships are actually pretty balanced, I find.

Well after a few days of grinding away with DP HK, I decided to give up on that and instead go to the JPN version like everyone else that is a normal person. Finally got the 1-ALL, but I had a major derp death on 1-4 and lost out on about 6 Mil because of it. After another death on 1-5 on a really crucial part, I just played to get the 1-ALL since my score was butchered by that point. I find this to be a really frustrating game and personally find the chaining to be bullshit, but it was still kind of cool to actually learn some chains in this game for once. Never really did play it till this week.

This oughtta pull me up the ranks a bit!

This game of the month thing is doing wonders for my skill at this game! The suicide bullets in the loop aren't really putting too much of a damper on my performance at this point. Managed to no-miss through both 2-1 and 2-2* until the 2-2 boss... who I did pretty good against until his second round started. Eek.

Something cool I noticed... in the loop, every suicide bullet you allow to spawn gives you ten points. Rather interesting mechanic thar.

*Note: I lost basically all of my lives in stage 5. >_>

I really should set up some practice states sometime. Such as to work on stage 3's stage part consistency as I just tried to dodge on this and it worked. Also need to learn how to do stage 3 boss as I had to bomb it once. Also need to practice stage 4. Managed to grab the extend without dying, but I definitely need work on it as I was just trying to sightread by that point. Had to bombspam stage 4 boss. Got kind of far into stage 5 entering with only 1 spare life, but I don't remember how long the stage actually is. Stage 5 may as well have been a blind run of it as I didn't remember any of it from my first few credit feed runs a long time ago except for the ships that send something from behind if you line up with them.

Taking a break to play Dragon's Dogma and then picking this back up in a total zen state = fuck yeah second credit awesomeness.

Ransom - 13,474,760 - 2-3 - 72 - Type C

Entered the second loop with a life to spare this time, and then I just took it slow instead of going all crazy and shit. Each wave in the loop saw me starting in one corner and then tap-dodging to the other corner to avoid suicide bullets. I somehow got three bombs off the "midboss" ships in 2-2. I don't know if that's normal or not, but whatever.

2-1 and 2-2 aren't really that bad if you're patient. I didn't die at all. 2-3, on the other hand, is a fucking nightmare and I shudder to think of 2-4 and 2-5.

All scores updated! Keep up the great work, everyone!

NMNB Stages 1-3. Stage 4 seemed even harder now due to not using a bomb on 1-3 or dying to it. NM1B till late stage 4 (I had 4 spare lives for a little bit), then I died twice on the stage. Then I died too much on Stage 5 cause I don't know how to deal with everything yet. The side snipes and the enemies from the bottom in stage 5 are awful. Then I completely screwed up the final boss by not even being able to NM3B it.

Stage 2-4 ships from the side... How in the world do you no-bomb that.

I think this contest should end on June 20 - only fair that all contests last a month, don't you think?

I believe the specific reason this was going through to the end of June was that every successive month after the initial STG of the Month would be for that month and ONLY that month to keep it simple. For example, the STG of July would be ONLY the STG of July, rather than the STG of June/July.

I usually have to bomb once for safety though.

I'll finally get onto this soon, since I'm done with everything over the last few weeks.

First ever 1-All of this game. No miss no bomb first 3 stages. Bombed early in 1-4 on one of the harder streaming sections for safety. End of 1-4 went worse than expected. 1-4 boss destroyed me as usual. Entered the loop on my last life instead of with a spare due to trying to dodge something on the stage 5 boss and failing. Suicide bullets didn't go too well forcing lots of bombs. game overed way before the boss.

First time reaching the final boss (progress, yay), I actually don't suck quite as much at Stage 4... it's still heartbreaking to have stupid deaths with lots of bombs in stock. Couldn't beat final boss with 2 bombs, although I made a surprisingly good show of it, did enough damage that I think one more bomb I think woulda offed it.
