The fifteen stages seem to be split into "groups" of their own, the end of these marked by landing strips. The game isn't really long in total time, so this works fairly well. I haven't started playing this yet (for the week), but I remember these "groups" being something like 2/3/2/3/2/3 (stages for each). The stage select seems to indicate this as well.

i picked up some little guy-shaped powerup and it said Shot Level Increased or something like that... what was it? i didn't get a good look.

You get bonuses after stage 2, 5, 10, and 15.

in settings (F2) there's a setting that enables stage select, however, its by default turned off, so it should be

The left tank (st 4 boss) can be annoying as it sometimes shoots a single laser when you start fighting it. Its always when ive got full health aswell :x
