Hi all,

A huge fan of shmups since years but I never had the oppportunity to play until recently (no arcade booths in my country so have to play on emulator).
Just discovered Dodonpachi, it's an awesome shmup.Went here to check my level and the highscores and couldn't believe my eyes :shock: .Never thought people could complete shmups games until the end with one credit.

Anyway, glad to be here. I hope I'll be posting my own achievements some times.

I switched from shmupmame 4.2 to 2.2 for runs; I think I was having problems with input lag with 4.2 and it made a damn big difference x_x

I still can't find a version that will let me practice with states without lag (I've tried compiling my own too). If someone could help me find one, that would be AMAZING, but I may end up having to go without.

How to watch your replay Jaimers?
When I try to view it I think I'm missing autofire setting from service menu but it doesn't save the setting so when MAME plays your replay back it's always missing.

Yeah that is something weird I've noticed with my shmupmame 4.2 that I'm not sure how to fix.
But starting the inp, then loading a state and then pressing shift + F3 to reset seems to work for me.

Thats a great start! Where are most of your points coming from? Even when I manage to make it to the loop, my score is barely half that. :oops:

Thx. :)

I am looking to use the shot as much as possible, the laser only when I have to, and (in the fight against the boss).
I noticed that Shot Type can gather a lot more points.

(270, 290 or 310 approx depending on whether you are type A, B or C. Might be 290, 330, 370, not sure about the exact number but it's easy to get. The easiest way to get this is in the second half of stage 5, do a laser bomb with max bonus if you are going to get hit - this will not break the chain - and surviving through just this even with 1 bomb used should net you enough hits to get 2nd loop no problem. Otherwise for next easiest or additionnal chance you can also do the stage 2 chain, or a partial chain of stage 4, 6... if you find this too hard/troublesome, grabbing all bees in stage 1 2 3 4 without dying - bombing is ok - will also unlock 2nd loop and that's not hard but takes memorization so I'd say hitcount much easier. Try your chance at each and every way of unlocking during each run to maximize probability of it happening in this run! This would also set you on the right path to both surviving and scoring high :p this game is very well designed)

My strategy so far has been to chain Stage 2, which is a bit challenging for me. I get it maybe 5%-10% of the time. I'll have to try out the Stage 5 section you recommended. I want to try to dig a little deeper into the loop before I start heavily working on chain routes.

I'm not playing it at the moment but DDP is a really fun game and I recently discovered some places where I can definitely improve on my chaining routes.
So I'll probably 2-ALL it eventually haha.
